Stian is someone who will mostly be seen in the background. He wouldn’t start a fight, but if someone attacks him, he won’t run away either. He likes doing handwork more than sword fighting and has a knack for creating pretty, small details. Because of this, people sometimes think he is feminine, but this isn’t the case. He is good at focusing on one thing for a long time and can be really quiet when he is concentrated, but at any other time he is a giant chatterbox.

Skills: Is pretty quick on his feet, but not as strong as most Viking men. He likes doing things with his hands and is good at delicate work.

With both of his parents running a jewellery store, he grew up with this craft. He didn’t grew up playing with normal toys, instead he played with all kinds of (expensive) gems. His father was an expert in choosing the best quality stones and metal, while his mother had amazing design ideas.  As an only child, his parents doted on him a lot. They did try for other children, but after 2 miscarriages they had to give up because of his father’s health. What started with just occasional coughing after some hard labour, ended up killing him. It was devastating for Stian and his mother, seeing the once strong Viking, slowly becoming more and more weak. In the end, he could only lay in bed and drink water and soup. He died when Stian was 11. At this age, he had learned the most important things of the job and did what was expected of him, he took over the shop.

Because he was constantly working, his former friends left him one by one. Saying he was too busy to play with them and becoming too weak for a ‘real viking’. These statements hurt him, he was still a child after all, so he did try and practice to become a real Viking. He practiced all the fighting techniques he could think of, but none of those really fitted him. In the end, he gave up and decided to entirely devote himself to the art of jewellery making. Till this day, he still isn’t the best at fighting and going to war, but has learned to live with that and make the most of what he is good at. Making art out of raw gemstones and metal.
