Dawn. Gyda's favourite moment of the day. A new beginning, a new day. She loved the few times when she woke up few moments before the sunrise and got to see the beautiful colours of the sky. Being at the edge of the forest right before the sun was up, though, was a complete different experience, not as pleasant as she thought it would be.

The day before, after she trained, a man told her she needed to train in the woods with another person. He didn't mention the name nor this person's gender, so she just assumed that she was going with a shield maid or a viking, someone older than her. She wanted to use this chance to learn while watching another person hunting and didn't actually expect to do anything. Nevertheless, she brought her bow and few arrows with her as well as a little axe, just in case her partner would ask her to do something or simply to show her skills.

The morning breeze was cold and being in an open space like that didn't help at all. The redhead could only think about how much she would've loved to run in the woods and warm up a little bit, but she needed to wait for her partner before entering the forest. Gyda was loosing her patience since no one was anywhere to be seen and was even more irritated by the fact that she didn't know who to expect nor why exactly she was there in the first place. The girl hated surprises, because she couldn't control them. She needed to know everything that was going to happen to her and also around her, she needed to have the situation under her control and just couldn't stand not being able to have the power she needed to control it.

"Hopefully this will be over soon." The girl said in her mind, trying not to voice her thoughts or let any of them escape from her mind. She then inhaled deeply, hugging herself and looked up to the sky, trying to calm down with the colours of the dawn. She didn't want her partner to find her freaking out or nervous because of him. She wanted to prove herself and to do that, she needed to have a cold blood and show the best side of herself which of course, was her fake one.

The boy had never been a morning person. Still, the life of a Herra started pretty early. Even though he had thralls to help him out whenever he wanted them to, he took it upon himself to take care of his equipment. It was what a true viking would do. It was what his father would do. It was that thought that made him get up early enough to have time to get breakfast and do a quick inspection of his weapons and armor. He had to go to the forest at dawn, for some kind of hunt slash training. His mentor had not given much details about the job, just that he would be joined by a shieldmaiden-in-training. And that he had to train his leadership skills, along his hunting skills. Which probably meant he was in charge of the whole hunt today. It put him under some stress, especially because it felt like the success would depend on his judgement. Something he knew he would have to do later on, but also felt like he wasn’t quite ready for. Anyways, he better get going, as he was running late.

His mentor had said not to bring his horse, which was normal, yet he wished he could’ve brought one. He would travel so much faster.. Although he would only be slowed down to a human pace again because his companion would be on foot. As he was used to travelling by horse, he completely misjudged how long it would take him to get to the meet up point. The sun was already up when he finally arrived. It was no surprise the other person was already there. Well played, Freyr. ”Hi”, He greeted her with an apologetic smile. ”I’m sorry I’m late”, He excused himself. After that, he took his bow and attached the string to the groove, so it was nicely tensed up. ”You ready?” He then asked her. They might as well get right into it, as they were already behind schedule due to his mistake.

After quite some time, Gyda was finally able to see a figure getting closer to her. "Finally." The girl said out loud before he could get too close to hear what she was saying.

She rolled her eyes when the boy apologised lightly, but smiled at him, squeezing her eyes. "It's fine." She then said, with a neutral voice tone. She grabbed her weapons that were leaning on the grownd and looked the guy while he was working on his bow. Gyda was trying to remember who this guy could be. She remembered his face, but she couldn't recall what his name was, which was pretty strange. She knew the names of every person who had a higher rank, so if this guy was a thegn or a viking, she should've known his name. "Unless, he's not a viking nor a thegn." The realisation that this guy was probably a beginner as she was, fell on her like cold water. Were they supposed to work together? To cooperate?

Panic started flooding Gyda's thoughts. She hated being unprepared, but there she was, on a hunting mission with a small axe and few arrows. In addition, her partner was most certainly a herra. The girl needed to rely on a unexperienced partner when she herself was unexperienced.

Gyda inhaled, trying to calm herself and not letting the panic show through her facial expressions. "Do we... Do we have a strategy?" She asked, starting with a thin voice, before clearing her throat, to speak louder. Having this few weapons with her, she needed to know exactly what to do, so she just hoped that her partner knew what he was doing in the first place.

When he arrived, he apologised quickly for being late. She made very clear how she thought about it with an array of displayed emotions. "It's fine." She then said, now in a more neutral way. He didn’t really know what to think about it. Was it really fine? She didn’t seem fine seconds earlier, when she was rolling her eyes at him. But then he realised.. She was rolling her eyes at him. Giving him attitude. There were not a lot of people who dared to act like that around him. So either she didn’t give a fuck about who he was, or she simply didn’t know. For some reason that made him feel a bit euphoric. Ever since his father had become Earl, lots of people had changed the way they talked to him, or even avoided interaction at all. The bare minimum, so they wouldn’t insult him or anger him in any way. It wasn’t as if Freyr would go complain to Rigas, but people were more careful in general. No one would roll their eyes at him, until now. It caused him to smile, so he quickly turned his attention towards his bow, which he started preparing for the upcoming hunt.

"Do we... Do we have a strategy?" She suddenly asked, while he was testing the flexibility of his bow. He then held it loosely in his hand, after which he turned his eyes to her again. ”A strategy?” He echoed her, a bit confused. ”It’s just a simple hunt. Catch as many prey and take it back to the village”, He continued. Did she not hear the assignment yet? Did his mentor expect he would explain everything to her? ”I think we have the best chance to find some prey near water, so I suggest we walk towards the river and look for tracks”, Freyr then said. It was a good plan, he reckoned. It was something he had learned from his father, and Rigas was never wrong. This method had proven to be profitable, so they might as well run with that for a while. See where it would take them. This whole ‘being the leader’ thing was more fun than he had estimated.

Gyda counted her arrows over and over. She just hoped that few more arrows could somehow appear from nowhere, but of course that wasn't going to happen. She wasn't a good archer, she knew it, but couldn't admit it out loud. She was afraid that those arrows were going to be wasted and the thought of having just few chances to make a good impression on her partner made her nervous. A deep breath filled the girl's lungs, she then exhaled through her nose. If they were going to cooperate, she needed to be fair and tell him her worries.

Suddenly he answered to her question and that obvious answer irritated her to the point she had to hold herself back not to slap him behind her head. She instead smiled ironically and shoved her quiver right in his face. "Do you think these are enough?" Her voice was calm even though her attitude wasn't the best one she could have. Gyda put her quiver back on her shoulder and shook her head from side to side. "I'm sorry. I'm just... Nervous, that's all." For how much she hated showing her weak side, she knew she needed to, especially in that particular situation. Otherwise he wouldn't have any reason to help her if he knew she was going to be mean to him.

The boy then suggested to go by the river. She didn't know much about hunting since that was her first time, but he seemed to know what he had to do, so she felt a little relieved. Gyda nodded strongly at his words. "Sounds good." She agreed. "I really hope I can be of help." She smiled widely, but with fake feelings. She just hoped he wouldn't notice it. She was thinking about telling him her name, but since he didn't spoke much about himself, she just thought it would've been better if she was just as professional as he was, only thinking about their hunting mission.

Gyda checked her bow once again, to make sure it was tensed up nicely and then put her small axe in the pocket she had in her belt. "Shall we go then?" The girl finally said, accompanying her words with a big gesture of her right arm, to let him understand he should've leaded the way.

To him, this ‘training’ was just a regular hunt. He had been on several hunts before, so it was not really much of a challenge. What could become a challenge, was having this frú to cooperate properly. She didn’t seem to like his comments, or his presence in general. After his answer, she shoved her quiver in his face. "Do you think these are enough?" She asked, and he blinked a bit surprised. "I'm sorry. I'm just... Nervous, that's all." She then excused herself. Freyr managed to put a little smile on his face. ”It’s alright. If you need more arrows, you can borrow some of mine”, He suggested, hoping it would take off the edge a little bit. Besides, he knew that a hunter usually only shot one arrow. If he missed, the prey would most likely escape. No need to shoot again. The more positive outcome would be if he killed or wounded the animal enough to finish it with a dagger. Again, no other arrow would be needed.

Right now, he figured out a plan that would most likely have a successful outcome. "Sounds good." She replied. "I really hope I can be of help." She then said with a broad smile. ”I’m sure you will”, He assured her. "Shall we go then?" She asked, and he nodded. He looked around for a bit, checking the environment. When he finally found a set of rocks and some trees to orientate himself, he started walking in the direction he assumed the river was in. When they were walking, he kept his eyes on the faint path they were following. ”One thing, if you can hear the river, assume the animals can hear us too. So try not to talk”, He said, offering a piece of advice. They walked on in silence for a bit, and the dense forest seemed to open up a bit. Less trees and not as much thick brush, which was nice. The tracks would be more easy to spot now, if there were any, that was.

That day couldn’t have started in a worse way. Her first hunt was with a herra whose skills didn’t appear to be as the ones of a herra and that just made her feel stupid. In addition, he didn’t look like he would’ve liked to teach her the things he knew. He only looked like he wanted to get the work done and just go back home. Gyda was there to learn new things but now that she knew who she was dealing with, she wasn’t so keen in learning anymore.

At least, the boy allowed her to borrow some of his arrows and that helped her relaxing a bit. Maybe she could stay in the back and let him do everything? But then again, what could she learn if she did that? She knew the road she chose wasn’t easy in the first place. Military training was hard, but that was the only way for her to be stronger. The only way to make her father’s name big. The only way to honour him as he deserved. No, she couldn’t just stay still and watch. ”I’m sure you will” He said, ripping her away from her thoughts. She smiled at him, more truthfully this time.

Gyda started following the boy who started moving towards some rocks. She didn’t understood why the river should’ve been close to some rocks but she trusted he knew what he was doing. Well, she hoped he knew that. Her thoughts were interrupted by his voice once more. He was talking about how the had to be quiet not to scare away the animals. She answered nodding, not really caring if he could see her or not.

When the silence fell between the two of them, and only the sounds of the forest could be heard, Gyda started to focus on her mission. Her breaths were barely audible now and she sharpened her eyesight, looking around between the trees. Within the silence, she felt like she could hear sounds she never was able to hear. A smile formed on her lips, now she wasn’t nervous nor angry. Now she was excited and ready to fight. Not that she had to fight literally, but she was ready nevertheless. Maybe she was gaining some of her confidence back.

It honestly didn’t really come to his mind that not everyone had the privilege of going out on hunts regularly. Not everyone had a father to show them how to. That somehow justified his reaction, but she didn’t seem to agree. He wondered if he had offended her in any way, or if she was just like this. A more sarcastic person. Maybe she acted like this all the time. He wouldn’t know, because he was quite sure they had never had any sort of interaction before. If his mentor had picked her out to test his patience, he had sure picked someone that would probably push him to that limit. Although he was a very patient and kind person, he too had his boundaries. He wouldn’t use his father to get what he wanted, but he sure knew other ways. He had seen his parents do it over and over again, and along the way he picked up some tricks. Rigas wouldn’t be Earl if he had asked the previous one nicely, would he?

But it seemed like a little bit of encouragement already gave her more confidence. He guided her through the woods, in the direction of the river. Or so he hoped. His map awareness wasn’t that bad, but with a forest like this no one could ever be sure. Getting lost was easy. Spending the night was dangerous by itself, and he wasn’t really sure he would want to do it together with this frú, to be brutally honest. Luckily he seemed to have taken the right decision. He could hear the river running just a bit ahead. He focused on his breathing for a bit, trying to make as little as possible noise. Freyr reached to his quiver, and took an arrow out of it. Just in case. He put it on the string.

The boy moved himself through the brush, as he tried to avoid stepping on branches. His eyes found some tracks, that seemed fairly fresh. He stopped for a second, so his hunting partner could catch up. With the tip of his arrow he pointed at the tracks. ”Deer”, He whispered very softly. If they could shoot a deer, that would be great. A deer was a big prey. They would probably have to shoot it, then finish it off with a knife or something. He knew an arrow would most likely only wound it. ”Aim for the shoulder or hip”, He instructed her, as he had leaned in a bit so he could keep his voice down.

The forest was becoming less and less dense, the space around the two was becoming larger with few trees now on each side and slim bushes. Gyda felt relieved because with less vegetation there were less chances of making any kind of noise, but she still needed to be careful at her steps.

The girl had been following him in the woods for quite a few time now and she still couldn’t hear any noise that could resemble a river or an animal noise. She started to walk in a more relaxed way, feeling a little disappointed since she trusted him. It was true that she had no idea were to go, but the boy looked like he knew what to do, but at this point she wasn’t so sure anymore. It was still early in the morning, but getting lost could mean not being able to get out of the forest before sundown. And that ment they needed to spend the night there.

Gyda’s wish to find the river was granted when she started hearing a relaxing murmuring, definitely coming from a stream of water. The girl gained again her composure and her muscles stiffened a little, her breath almost inaudible, her steps became slower and lighter on the ground. She realised that the movement she was making were effortless, almost comfortable, it was like she had always done this. ”Deers.” His whisper broke the silence that was surrounding the two of them. Gyda moved from behind him to his right side and mimicking his movements, she took an arrow from her quiver and placed it on the string of her bow while she was instructing her on what to do. They still couldn’t see their prey, but the traks looked fresh, so it was surely close.

The girl then moved forward without waiting for her partner to move or at least she couldn’t see him moving. She got through few trees and finally spotted her prey. She slowly got closer, just to be sure she’d be able to hit her target, then inhaled deeply and tended her bow. ”It’s either the shoulder or the hip. She said to herself while aiming to the shoulder of the deer. When she was completely sure, she released the arrow that flew right next to another one and hit just an inch above the deer’s shoulder right after the other arrow hit almost the same spot. The animal tried to escape but struggled to move. ”I did it? We did it?” She froze for just a second, but then realised she had to end her job. She looked back at her partner without being able to hide her bright smile. ”We did it!” She said out loud this time. She then turned again and started to get closer to the deer.

Spotting the tracks was quite easy if you knew what to look for. By the way the grass was pushed down, he could see the animal wasn’t in a hurry. It was just pressed down straight, so the deer hadn’t been running. Which was good. The animal wasn’t sensing any danger. A nervous prey was usually a hard one to catch. If it didn’t suspect anything, it would maybe be easier to take down. He gave her some more instructions. If he wasn’t wrong, the river would be right through these brush. The redhead took initiative this time, making her way forwards. He followed her, a bit more to her left. To his satisfaction, the deer was right in front of them. He saw the girl getting closer, and he positioned himself next to a tree. In its shadow, he would be less visible. But the deer was still just sipping from the water. Not really paying attention. He pulled the arrow back, and almost simultaneously let it go. The whizzing sound triggered the deer, but it was too late. His arrow hit almost at the same time, in the same area as hers.

The deer fell down, screaming in pain and confusion. ”We did it!” She shouted, obviously excited. He felt the same rush. ”That was amazing! Did you see our arrows hit at almost the same time?” He grinned back. He then gestured at the deer. ”You finish it, you deserve it”, He said, offering her the honour of dealing the final blow. He walked over to the spot with her, where the animal was still trying to get away. The sooner she slaughtered it, it would be relieved of its pain. Freyr heard her slit its throat, but something else had sparked his interest. Or more so, his worry. Something.. Something was sneaking through the brush a few meters away from them. Before he could say anything, a mighty roar echoed through the woods. ”Run! Run!” He shouted, dropping his bow and tugging at her arm when he ran past her.

The feeling that run through her veins when her arrow hit her target was something she never felt before. Hitting a real moving target was completely different than training with a wooden target. She turned to the boy standing behind her and just couldn’t hold back her enthusiasm. The words she said after slipped from her tongue spontaneously. Then again, she couldn’t believe how the both managed to coordinate their movements so well. They didn’t know each other, they didn’t even talked about it, but they still shot their arrows almost at the same time and they hit almost the same place.

”That was amazing! Did you see our arrows hit at almost the same time?” The boy said with an excited tone. She thought he was used to it, so she didn’t really expect him to react like that. Was she going to feel the same way everytime she hunted and succeded? She really hoped so, because that feeling was difficult to explain, but definitely great. ”You finish it, you deserve it” The boy’s voice brought her back on Earth just few seconds later. Gyda nodded at his words and went straight to the deer. The animal was wheezing on the ground, unable to move, it was clear that it was suffering. The girl hurried and grabbed her axe from her belt, then slid the throat of the animal, knowing that by doing this, she would’ve ended its sufferings.

That was when a strange noise came from somewhere behind the bushes and Gyda furrowed her eyebrows. Run! Run! She couldn’t even understand what was happening. Just a brief moment later, she felt the boy grabbing her by the arm and running towards the direction where they came from. Her legs were moving by themselves and the redhead couldn’t really understand what was happening. The boy probably saw something dangerous, otherwise he wouldn’t be running like this. But Gyda really couldn’t hear anything back there. They were running through the trees and the bushes, getting more and more dense and more difficult to avoid. Gyda put the axe she was still holding in her hands back on her belt so that she could have a free hand to slap away the tree branches that were threatening to hit her face.

This whole plan had turned out better than expected. In the end, she had been nervous for no reason. She had shot her arrow perfectly. They were a good team. He could use his knowledge to track down prey and with her help a takedown was almost assured. It was different than going on a hunt with his father. But that was mostly because those trips were meant to teach him new things. Hunting a deer was a little more advanced than hunting a rabbit or a squirrel. But they had managed to catch it anyways, which was really an accomplishment. They were allowed to be proud of themselves. He also felt the familiar rush of adrenaline flowing through his veins. It was a special way to feel connected with her, knowing they had done this together, despite them not even knowing each other’s name.

In a generous moment, he allowed her to finish of the deer. She had earned it. Quickly the redhead walked over to their prey and slit the throat with her axe. It put an end to her suffering. Now it was just a matter of taking it home. But.. Something messed up their plans. A growl sounded from the brush, and even though he didn’t recognise the sound, he knew it meant trouble. Only big predators made noises like this. Wolf? Or lynx? He had no idea and he wasn’t planning on finding out any time soon. So he told her to run, grabbing her arm while he ran past her himself. They ran for quite a while, but he made sure not to lose her out of his sight. When he suspected the predator wasn’t following them anymore, he slowed down a bit.

”I think there was a wolf or a lynx hiding in the brush”, He explained, panting heavily but he managed to get out the words pretty clear. For a moment he went quiet, listening to the woods. ”Maybe it stopped to steal our prey”, He continued, but they couldn’t be sure. If it was a wolf, it probably had a pack too. ”We need to get back and tell the villagers to be careful”, He said. His loyalty was with his people, as he felt responsible for them. As the son of the earl, he was taught to care for them, so it was his duty to warn them for any danger.

Everything escalated so quickly that Gyda didn’t even understand what was going on. One moment she was all excited because her first hunt had gone more than well and the moment after, she was running away from her own prey following her partner that was pulling her from her arm, without having total control over her legs.

Why they were running, she didn’t know. She was probably too focused on killing the deer and didn’t hear or see something that maybe that boy did. Whatever the danger was, the boy didn’t left her behind and that gave her a nice impression of him, of his loyalty. They didn’t even know each other’s names and they were still able to coordinate almost perfectly, without a word nor a look and kill a deer and now he was probably saving her life.

The boy finally slowed down and Gyda started to feel her lungs getting heavier, finding it difficult to breathe regularly. ”I think there was a wolf or a lynx hiding in the brush” The boy started explaining. He wasn’t breathing correctly either, but his words came out perfectly clear. Gyda repeated the words the boy said in her head a couple of times before realising the true meaning behind them. ”A wolf?!” She said out of breath and with a high pitched voice. How come she didn’t even sensed it? If she was alone in the woods she would’ve surely died. ”Maybe it stopped to steal our prey.” Gyda hoped he was correct. ”We need to get back and tell the villagers to be careful” He added. The girl was a bit disappointed that they had to return to the village without a prey from their hunt, since that was their mission, but he was right, the village safety was a lot more important than a deer. The only thing she could do to answer was nodding strongly, but then she tried to voice her answer anyway. ”Yes…" She breathed in and then out again. ”Yes, we should go back.” She concluded.

Her hand instinctively went to her belt. ”Oh… My axe.” She said when she noticed that her hands couldn’t touch the hard and cold metal of the cheek of her axe. The girl probably didn’t even notice her axe went missing back when she started running away, but now she felt a bit disappointed. She had to buy another one and it wasn’t like she had that much money to spend on weapons.

When he was sure the predator wasn’t following them anymore, he dared to slow down. If the beast was still chasing them, it would probably make a whole lot of noise. It’s presence was known anyways, so it didn’t have to sneak around anymore. Then again, he had no idea how lynxes or wolves hunted. It was best if they just went back to the village and warn the people. They could send out a patrol to see if it was safe again. More experienced warriors to handle the threat. The both of them weren’t really equipped to deal with the problem either. ”Yes…" She said, while trying to catch her breath. ”Yes, we should go back.” She agreed. It would suck to show up empty handed, but at least they were making the right decision. He knew both his parents and their mentor would appreciate them being careful and putting the village first.

When he was about to walk back, the redhead said something that made him turn around again. ”Oh… My axe.” She said, and he spotted the empty holder at her belt. ”It’s alright, I lost my bow too. We can come back later to look for it, or have some Vikings pick it up”, He said, hoping she wouldn’t protest. He still felt like he was in charge here, and he wouldn’t let her go look for a stupid axe if her life could be on the line. It wasn’t worth it. ”Or I’ll get you a new one. It really is no problem. You shouldn’t risk your life for a weapon”, He continued, hoping to convince her. They had no time to argue now, they should be heading back instead of wasting time here.

Her first hunt turned out to be a real mess. Starting with her nervousness right before entering the woods, she never actually relaxed. She was tense when they were walking, she was tense when they needed to kill their prey and lastly, she was tense when they ran away from it. The boy that was with her didn’t look nervous nor worried at all. From the whole morning, he looked focused and confident, knowing exactly what to do and when he had to do it. Gyda couldn’t sense any kind of nervousness even when they were running away. He acted quickly and did just what it needed to be done, going exactly where he needed to go.

The boy apparently wasn’t able to hear the noise that made them run away anymore, since he slowed down, eventually coming to a halt. Gyda herself stopped without questioning, because after the time they spent together, she knew she could somehow trust this boy. She knew she was safe as long as she was with him. When he suggested to get back to the village, she agreed with him. She knew that this was something that someone with a lot of experience had to deal with, instead of two beginners like them. Nevertheless, she was still disappointed.

When she noticed her axe was lost, she seriously considered going back just to find it. It hadn’t any particular meaning to the girl, apart from the fact that she always trained with it. Now that she had lost it, she was surely going to slow down her trainings until she had a new weapon and that bugged her a lot. ”It’s alright, I lost my bow too. We can come back later to look for it, or have some Vikings pick it up” The boy’s voice broke in her thoughts and Gyda shook her head. He was right, it was better to wait until the woods were safer or just let someone else grab them, but… ”Or I’ll get you a new one. It really is no problem. You shouldn’t risk your life for a weapon” He said once again interrupting her thoughts. Was he really saying he was going to buy her a weapon? The boy was right, that axe wasn’t worth her life, so maybe she should just use a bit of his kindness to her advantage? The girl simply nodded to his words. She was still recovering her breath, so she just started walking towards the direction they came from in the very beginning, hoping she wasn’t following the wrong path.

Now they had a solid plan, he wanted to execute it as soon as possible. He didn’t trust the lynx one bit. The sooner they were out of these woods, the better. Especially now they both were unarmed. He still had his sword, but that was it. No bow, no axe. And they were on foot as well. She seemed a bit more worried about her weapon than he was. So he tried to convince her to just leave without it. There were many things he would risk his life for, but a weapon was not one of it. And he wouldn’t allow her to do it either. If he had to pick her up and basically carry her ass back to the village, then he would. Luckily she agreed without having to be threatened. It took some attempts, but eventually she followed him as he was getting back to the village. He recognised this part of the forest, as it was closest to the main road. Normally that would make him happy, but now it bothered him. The predator was way too close. He had never seen them this close to the village ever before. During the winter the cattle was kept in the stables, but he didn’t think that would stop a really hungry big cat if they really wanted to grab an easy snack.

After a short walk, they arrived at the main entrance. ”I’ll go look for the Hersir, you go find the Countess”, He suggested. He didn’t really think twice about the fact that she might be more comfortable if they switched it around. He interacted with Gunnvor on a daily basis, as she was his mother. He had no idea she could leave quite the impression on people that didn’t have the chance to get to know her outside her leadership role. ”We’ll meet again at the training fields afterwards”, He continued. Maybe they would send out a small group of vikings to go take a look. Then they could point them in the right direction.

They were surely in a position of disadvantage at the moment. Gyda wasn’t very experienced when it came to hunting, but surely having few weapons wasn’t a great thing. They also had to run to get out of the sight of that wild animal, they were tired and now they were supposed to head back to the village as fast as possible to warn everyone about the danger. For how much Gyda hated riding, she would’ve killed someone to have a horse waiting for her outside the woods.

Her legs were sore and even though she was able to caught up her breath, she couldn’t help but feel tired. ”I’ll go look for the Hersir, you go find the Countess” The boy talked just as they were about to get out of the woods. Gyda, who was following him few steps behind, looked at his back furrowing her eyebrows, almost in shock. She had to talk with the Countess? It wasn’t like she wasn’t willing to do it, but just the thought, made her nervous. The girl closed her eyes and shook her head without making any kind of noise. She had to do this even if she knew she was going to be uncomfortable. She had to brave up and this was a great occasion that was given to her. ”Of course.” The girl finally and simply said to him, agreeing with a firm voice.

Gunnvor was a fierce woman, but Gyda knew she had nothing to be afraid since she was thinking about the safety of Skagerrak. The girl only hoped that the Countess was in a good mood so that, maybe, she could’ve credit her and hopefully look at her favourably. She had a lot of warriors and Gyda was nothing like them. She wasn’t as strong as them, she wasn’t as fierce nor as experienced as them, but if she was going to help her status by doing something good for her village, then she was up to the challenge. ”We’ll meet again at the training fields afterwards” The boy said. Now they had a plan and she was ready to follow it attentively. The adrenaline that took her was something new, but she liked how her fatigue was now gone thanks to that. ”Okay, see you there.” She finally said while beginning to walk faster. She passed through him and touched his shoulder as a sort of silent goodbye while her legs started moving faster towards the direction of the village.
