PersonalityAnxious: Eydís tends to worry quickly and often, also getting scared rather quickly. It is easy to notice if she's feeling uncomfortable. However, she proves to be quite brave in the face of danger, doing what must be done, even if she's terrified.
Emotional: Eydís is quite the emotional person. She feels most things very intensely and her face is an open book to others. It's easy to read how she's feeling at a particular moment in time, something that tends to kind of work against her.

Naive: Eydís is quick to trust others, even if this trust might be misplaced. She generally trusts people who are nice to her without question, a trait that tends to get her into some trouble every now and then. However, once betrayed, her trust is incredibly difficult to win back.
Pacifist: Contrary to the culture she was brought up in, Eydís does not believe in violence. She likes to see the best in people, even if there isn't a lot to see at all. She strives for a realitity without pain, war and suffering. She refuses to harm others, even if it gets her hurt instead.
Quiet: Although she is not exactly shy, Eydís is rather quiet. She doesn't mind talking to people, but she'll never say an awful lot to someone she barely knows. Once she's around trusted friends, she starts opening up.
HistoryEydís was born as the eldest daughter of Sverrir Odinsson, a farmer, and Gunhild Halvardsdóttir, a shieldmaiden. She was born and raised in
Kattegat and grew up mostly under the supervision of her father. Although her parents seemed to be polar opposites, they were truly in love with each other. Her mother had a heart that yearned for blood and battle and tended to leave her family to go on raids. Her father was a more laid-back person, always staying home to look after the family farm.
Eydís grew up
working on the farm, first and foremost, also picking up skills like clothmaking, fishing and hunting. As the eldest child, she often was appointed to look after her younger siblings. She didn't get along well with her parents, nor most of her siblings. She was thought to be a mute the first few years of her life, never uttering a word to her family. She did talk to others, however, and later also started opening her mouth to her family. Her mother never took a liking to her, verbally and physically abusing her when she was home from the raids. Eydís tried to escape the situation at home by frequently visiting an older woman in the village, who taught her how to sew. The young woman proved to be an excellent
seamstress, making it the craft of her choice.
At age nineteen, one of the raiding parties came back with the message that her mother had perished in battle. Even though she had always resented her mother, the loss still crushed her. Her father was heartbroken as well, causing Eydís to pick up most of the work at the farm. To this day, she still lives in Kattegat, working as one of the village's
clothmakers.
