Hjortdal is a storage village not that far from Skagen. In the summer most of his many sheds are empty, houses rather quiet. But in the winter months this village is a stop in between travel routes. People often come to Hjortdal to stock their supplies and valuable possessions, staying there for the winter before traveling further to important trading villages as Kattegat. For that a lot of different people come here with different kind of goods. Hjortdal doesn’t have an earl or a king like some other big villages do, in charge there is an old trading master with his wife and two sons. With his old age, his two sons take over the business on giving an safe space for people to stock there goods and to stay for the winter. The village doesn’t have any stronghold, walls or defenses. Everything lays rather together, for that it can be very crowded on busy days. Hjortdal has his talent for many hiding spots. Because there are a lot of valuable things coming through without defenses, they need to find another way to protect their things. Sheds of hay, houses often have their secret hiding spaces protecting the traders traveling to from raiders or prying eyes.
Aslaug heard of this village over a conversation into her great hall. Given Björn isn’t currently around she saw it as a good way to let her sons go raid on their own. Some of Ragnar his old warriors signed up to fight along side the sons of Ragnar himself. This is the first raid Kattegat will make since the disappearance of the King himself. For that there rest a lot upon the shoulders of his sons.
