As said, this RPG is located in the same universe as the series Vikings. In the series the most popular village is Kattegat but in this RPG there will be three other important villages, Skagen, Skagerrak and Uddevalla. With every character you make you are free to choose one of these villages to live in. All the villages have their own characteristics and the one condition is that you always try to take them with you when you are writing.
There may be some geographical and historical descriptions on this RPG that are not 100% accurate. We are aware, and have changed a few things to make them flow better in the world we've created. Please don’t pay too much attention to these things. Just keep in mind that this is an RPG, an imaginary world where you can write down all of your fantasies. If you want the facts, go to Wikipedia and read the stories there.

Forging and fighting
Uddevalla is a kingdom located in south west Sweden. The nature there is very wild, with a lot of vegetation and mountains. The only way to get to Uddevalla without getting lost is by sailing from the North Sea straight into the delta of the Stigfjorden. Uddevalla is not very easy to navigate to or from because of the heavy currents inside the delta.
The wilds around the kingdom of Uddevalla is enormous. Infinite sources of wood and iron are to be found in the stretched forest and the massive mountains. But where there is a huge quantity, there is lack of quality. Especially the sources of iron are medium to low in quality which makes them hard to work with. Thereby the people of Uddevalla have cultured an unmatched skill for forging weapons. People call Uddevalla 'the armory of Valhalla'.
Weapons made in Uddevalla are not only for trading. The main reason they are made is to fight, to taste blood, to take lives. From a young age the inhabitants of Uddevalla are trained to work with weapons. It isn't a strange thing to see children playing with axes that could easily take someone's hand. Uddevalla raises the best warriors in the world, and occasionally vikings from different villages come to Uddevalla to learn more skills in battle. Only they do not always make it out alive...

Skagen
Building and crafting
Skagen is a small village, located on the most southern shore of Denmark. It is enclosed by water from the south, east and west. The only way to go deeper into the mainland is by walking northwards, or by sailing along the shores. It is very easy to reach Skagen because of the North Sea that borders right against the shores of the village.
Because of all the accessible water and animals who live there, Skagen was meant to be a fisher village. The people taught themselves how to fish by inventing rods and fishing nets. Later they learned how to build boats and eventually became experts in building and crafting.
After they heard the stories of Ragnar Lothbrok exploring and raiding the world, they dared out also. Their boats were very suitable for long distance and rough seas, but the people appeared not to be. So they continued building, fishing and selling to other vikings who came to Skagen to buy their boats.
It was a peaceful village until eighteen years ago Halfdan The Black came with his brother Harald Finehair and conquered the village. He killed the earl and his wife and became the next ruler of Skagen. In the meantime they are waiting to join Björn on his journey to the Mediterranean.

Farming and forestry
Skagerrak is a farmer village located in the South West of Sweden. It is a village that is provided with all the best sources from nature. They have access to a salt river that streams to their village and can take them to the North Sea. But they also have access to a big, fresh water lake. The ground they live on is so wealthy that there grows vegetation that grows nowhere else.
Because of all these natural privileges they are able to farm like no one else can. The harvest never fails and it seems like their animals breed faster and grow older. The people from Skagerrak are excellent horse riders and have the most knowledge about plants and trees.
But their grounds do not only provide food, they also provide building materials. Skagerrak had the best quality of wood and iron. But they don’t know how to craft them like the people from Uddevalla do. That’s the reason they travel often to Kattegat, with their poorly built ships, to sell their raw materials and the newly discovered food.

Trading and discovering
Kattegat is a Kingdom located in the north of Sweden. It is the kingdom of Ragnar Lothbrok, but since he left his wife Aslaug has taken his place. Ragnar’s oldest son, Björn, is keeping an eye on Aslaug, preparing himself to take over Kattegat when Aslaug makes a mistake. The kingdom is placed in a fjord near the North Sea, which makes Kattegat very accessible for travellers, merchants or for exploring the world.
Because of its accessibility Kattegat had grown to become the biggest trading centre in Scandinavia. It is home to a huge amount of inhabitants, but also Vikings from all over Denmark, Sweden and Norway travel to Kattegat to sell their goods. Because of the amount of people there are a lot of safety precautions and Kattegat has its own group of warriors and shield maidens that patrol the city.
Kattegat is the place where the skills of Vikings come together: raw materials, food, boats, weapons, animals. But these do not originate in Kattegat itself. The one true skill that Kattegat -and especially Ragnar Lothbrok- is known for, is discovering the rest of the world. Discovering and raiding, bringing new aspects to the Viking culture.
