| She was sitting in front of the opening of the iron mine. Like she had done many times before. Like always she had waited for the iron miners to leave. After all she had no business with them. She liked it around here, because the rocky terrain made it perfect for training. And she had been jumping and running around the rocks, practicing her attacks and her speed. All while she trained how to keep her balance more. After all these years, you could say she was swift and fast and her balance was on a high level. But still she made to many mistakes in her mind. To many times she fell, or slipped, to many times she just couldn’t make that jump she wanted to take. Also making too much noise and other thing she hated. She wanted to be silent, as silent as death itself.
She closed her eyes for a second, taking a deep breath as some wind blew through the drying leaves. Rustling like water in a small stream. She was covered in dirt and bruises already, while she hadn’t done too much. But had decided to take a break because as her father always said. Rest can be more precious than the training itself. In that time she did not want to believe him. Maybe because she did not know what it meant. Now she was older and she started to slowly make her way to that understanding. If she didn’t already. In rest you could clear your mind or sharpen it. And the mind was the most deadly weapon a person ever could have. It had limitless possibilities.
And now as she opened her eyes again, her mind went back to the mine. She had wanted to go inside for many times. But never came further then tree steps in. The darkness inside was something else completely, just like the air. The feeling. She knew what it was. Her senses screaming that it was a dangerous place. Still she wanted to know what was hidden inside. Maybe only rocks and cold stones, some iron that the miners wanted. If she could get her hands on that… How many things she would be able to trade it for? Even if it was just a little piece. Of course she could just steal some of a miner. But what was the fun in that? Nothing, it was too simple and she wanted to know what was hidden inside. She wanted to know if she could make her senses calm down even in the complete darkness. Because even the cover of night was nothing compared to the dark of the whole in front of her.
She narrowed her eyes as she tried to see further inside then her eyes would let her. A light sigh left her mouth as she stood up and walked around the opening. Up the light hill. Where she took out her sword and started to swing it around, placing her feet carefully not to stumble on the rocks who laid under her. Her eyes being slightly dazed as she saw in her mind an opponent. Making her movements adjust to the movements of the shadow she was fighting with.
As the man in her mind moved back she smirked and twirled around swiftly. Lifting one of the smaller stones with her foot and keeping it there till she shot it towards the shadow in her mind. The stone hitting death centre in the stomach. But in reality it flew through the air and hit the bark of a tree, before falling to the ground. The hard sound making her wake up from the daze as she stopped and held her sword out in front of her. Watching how some crows flew up from the surprise they got when the stone hit the tree. She took a light breath and put her sword back on her side. Leaving her hand on it. Before she turned and walked towards the top of the opening that leaded to the iron mine. ”I know you’re there.” |
