either live with it or fix it.
It didn’t happen that often, but sometimes Styrr allowed himself to take a day off. No training, no working around the house, no hanging around in the great hall. He liked to be around people, but from time to time he also liked to be left alone for a while. Especially after a difficult time. Thanks to his personality, he sometimes got head-first into situations he probably shouldn’t be in. But he never said no to a challenge. If he could prove himself, or at least thought that he could, then he didn’t think twice about it. It had gotten him in a lot of trouble in the past, but he didn’t learn his lessons. Even after being locked up, he was still his rebellious and annoying self.
But not today. Today he had been fishing for a couple of hours. It somehow worked therapeutic. He could really turn off his mind for a while, which was good. He was very calm and even cheerful. With his catch of the day he was now walking towards the fisher huts. Maybe he could sell a couple of them. He had about six big ones. They were bound together with a thin thread, that was pierced through their lips. When he arrived at the huts, he was about to turn to one of the merchants, when he saw someone familiar walk around the scaffold. ”Greetings, Freyja Stafnsdóttir”, He said, with a friendly smile. Normally he wouldn’t be this convivial, but he was in an excellent mood, and Freyja was no stranger to him. So he decided to try the social way of life for a bit.

Early afternoon had arrived and Freyja was looking forward to going home shortly. It was a bit earlier than she normally left, but her life had gotten easier when she’d taken on an apprentice. Aleinn had turned out to be a quick study, which she was certainly thankful for.
And later tonight she was supposed to be joining her family for dinner. She’d invited Johan and his two young daughters to join them, and while not everyone in the family was very excited about the new man in their mother’s life, Freyja was determined to welcome him and his children. What the others thought about him didn’t interest her, as long as they were polite and didn’t bad mouth him to his daughters. She’d had to have that talk with Sofie twice already, and it had taken bringing up their dead father to get her to see the problem with saying rude things about a man to his children.
But those were problems for later. She was nearly finished walking around the scaffold, triple checking that everything was progressing correctly and looking for any errors or inconsistencies. She was just about to hop down and go see how Aleinn was doing when a familiar face caught her eye.
Styrr greeted her, and Freyja smiled wide as she approached him. It had been some time she’d last spoken to him. He was a viking, and they were the same age. They’d trained together often when she’d been a thegn. But she’d failed to keep in touch after she left all of that behind her to become a shipbuilder. “Hello, Styrr. Good day?” she asked, nodding to the string of fish he held in his hand. “How’ve you been?” she wondered, crossing her arms across her chest. “Still getting into trouble? Or have you settled down in your old age?” she grinned at him, doubting he’d ever really ‘settle down’. He didn’t seem the type. She couldn’t really recall if he was one for teasing, but that was about Freyja’s entire personality, so she hadn’t stopped to consider he might not be too pleased with the way she started a conversation.

It was good to see Freyja again. They both had spent a lot of time together when she was still training to become a warrior. Then she had changed her path and now she was one of the best boat builders of Skagen. He knew she had been kind of required to give up on her dream, because of her father’s demise. She had a lot of younger siblings to take care off. A responsibility she shared with her mother, but After all, it had turned out to be a great opportunity though. He wondered if she sometimes regretted it, but she seemed happy and cheerful so it couldn’t be that bad, right? Maybe she enjoyed being a boat builder as much as he enjoyed being a viking. Styrr knew she could have been one hell of a warrior, so he still respected her, no matter her profession. He greeted her politely but enthusiastic. “Hello, Styrr. Good day?” She asked, and he nodded energetically. ”Sure is, today is a good day indeed”, He chuckled. In multiple ways it was a good day, even, which was nice. For a change, he didn’t feel angry or annoyed, and he sort of liked it.
“How’ve you been?” She asked, crossing her arms before continuing. “Still getting into trouble? Or have you settled down in your old age?” The man started laughing and shook his head. ”Settling down? Me? I’ll settle down when I’m dead”, He chuckled. ”I’ve been good, just going where the Gods take me”, He then said on a more serious note. The weight of the fish in his hand only proved that the Gods were still pleased with him. Otherwise he wouldn’t have caught that many. ”How are you?” He then asked, quite curious about how her life was going now, since she had kind of disappeared.
