| It had rained out the last couple days, and Yrsa had forced Aksel and Aleksia to sit inside for the most part. She’d only just got her own place, and didn’t need muddy puppies shaking off inside and giving her more work to do. So when the sun had finally cleared, she took them for a walk. However, after being cooped up for almost two full days, the energetic puppies were not as obedient as they should have been, and had bolted off towards the village center. She really needed to get some cord and leash the troublesome beasts, and soon.
She was fairly certain they couldn’t get up to too much trouble, and therefore didn’t chase after them, making her way in the general direction they’d run off at just above her normal walking pace. It didn’t take long before she heard their yips of excitement and the shield maiden rolled her eyes, realizing they must have found a new friend. Sometimes, they were a bit too friendly for their own good. She didn’t like the idea of training that out of them, but if she wanted well behaved dogs, she’d need to at least work on it occasionally.
Groaning aloud when she finally recognized who they were dancing around, Yrsa shook her head and hurried over to where Gyda was standing. Her skirt was covered with splatters of mud, nearly to her knees in a couple places. Aksel and Aleksia were staring up at her, their tongues hanging out the sides of their mouths, their tails wagging wildly. It couldn’t have been anyone else, she thought, shaking her head as she finally approached.
“I am so sorry about that. I can, um… pay for a new dress?” She looked sheepishly at the frú, before dropping her gaze to the pups once more. “Sit!” she told them harshly, and sighed again when they both plopped their bums down immediately, onto the very muddy ground. Their tails were still wagging madly, flinging specks of mud up but at least it was only hitting Yrsa’s boots now, and not Gyda any longer. Her house was going to be a big muddy mess when she got them home. |

| After training under the rain for days, Gyda was gladly surprised when for her whole morning training, she managed to stay dry. She got back home sooner than what she was supposed to be and changed her muddy training clothes with a dress for the day. She chose one of her simpler dresses, because she knew there was the possibility for it to get dirty with the mud that was still covering the streets.
The day was still long and Gyda went out for a little stroll, to enjoy the nice and chilly weather after those depressing rainy days. She didn’t expect to find anyone in the streets since they were still dirty and the chances for the rain to pour again were pretty high, so she just walked down the streets, humming a song. She rarely was in a happy mood and this was one of the days when she chose to be happy instead of grumpy.
A strange sound came from the other side of the street and the girl turned around to see what caused it, just in time to see two puppies running towards her direction, splattering mud everywhere. She thought they were cute… Until the mud got on her skirt. ”Keep calm Gyda, this is your happy day. She told to herself in her mind while rolling up her eyes and inhaling deeply from her nose. Soon enough she heard a voice apologising to her. “I am so sorry about that. I can, um… pay for a new dress?” Gyda opened her eyes and pierced her gaze through the woman’s one, only to soften it once she recognised her.
Yrsa was a shield maiden and that meant she was one of the people she had to obey to, one of the people she had to be gentle with. Gyda shook her head even though she was reluctant. ”Don’t worry, it’s not an expensive dress.” She said and shrugged her shoulders. It was true, the dress wasn’t expensive, but she was still annoyed because of how it got ruined. She turned around to look at the puppies. ”They are cute.” They were wagging their tail just in front of her. The redhead anger was about to explode, so she made a statement trying to convince herself to keep her calm by saying things out loud. |
