Ylva had been out and about all day. Gathering as many flowers and plants the she could to start experimenting with. She had made a few rubs so far on her own, and they all worked wonderfully. She just knew that she needed to just keep working and getting better everyday. The more things she figured out how to make the better of a Healer she was going to become. That was her goal after all now, to became the best healer in the area. One that people knew in every village as a great healer, the greatest if she could manage that even. Then Ivar would be so proud he decided to be her friend and maybe even want to be more then friends with her. At least that was her deep down dream when it came to him. She always felt this such strong pull to him, and lately things had been different. She had been having dreams that felt so real, but weren't. She could see things in her dreams, things that she had no idea what they were, but she could see them, she was pretty sure most of the things were things she had asked people to describe to her.It was weird, and she hadn't told anyone about it, and maybe never would. However Ivar was in almost every one of them. She had never seen his face in the dreams, but she heard his voice and saw the things that were happing around him. Sometimes she would be there too, but most of the time it was just Ivar. It was most likely because she missed him and his sarcastic behaviors. He was her only friend that was ever going to come close to understanding her. A person who was crippled like her, but in a different way. He was just far more angry then she was about things and life.
As Ylva was lost in her thoughts and dreams she tripped over a rock, or something else on the ground. This was something that happened to her often when she came out onto the road and by the forest, but she was able to find way more plants out here then in the village. When she tripped she dropped the basket she had been carrying as well. All of the contents spilled all over the ground and she of course could see them because she was blind. Huffing from on the ground, Ylva slowly sat the basket back up and feeling around on the ground for all of the things that she could find and put back inside it. She had been so distracted, that she almost missed the sounds of someone walking over closer to her. Taking a deep breath Ylva stayed where she was as she kept picking everything up. If the person was going to try and hurt her she had the knife that Hankon had given her. Plus Freyja had been giving her tips and tricks of how to get away and attack someone. So she wasn't too scared, but it was always the unknown. After the first viking man that hurt her, she got nervous when she was out and alone. Even more so now that she was so far away from the village on the road. The person could be an outsider too, someone who didn't know she was blind.
Taking a deep breath she decided to be brave. She would speak to see who was outside here with her. "Hello?" Ylva said first as she looked up from her place on the ground. The first thing the person would see would be her light blue, almost fully white eyes looking up toward them. Most of the things on the ground had been picked up, but there was still a good amount she had missed because she couldn't see them. "Who is there?" she asked next. Making sure to sound as confident as she could in front of whoever was here. Never show weakness it was something a lot of people told her,and a tip she was going to remember right now.

either live with it or fix it.
Being a good warrior was so much more than just being good with a weapon. A warrior had to have endurance, balance and speed. And that was only the physical part. There were more qualities focused on mentality and even personality. For now Styrr was practising his physical skills though. Especially balance and endurance, as he was taking a hike around the cliffs. It was a dangerous place. Not only because of the loose rocks, but also because some were wet and slippery from when the tide had come in. In a bit, he would have to climb up again, as the water was coming up again. He knew better than to hurry though. If he started running, he would eventually trip and fall down. This was not the ideal place to be trapped. When he arrived at the end, he took the easiest route up. He had been here before, so he knew which path would be the safest.
After what had seemed like an hour, he arrived at the top of the cliffs. He was sweating, wet from splashing water and hot from the effort. Panting he stood on one of the big boulders and enjoyed the view for a while. It had been worth it for sure. The man sat down for a while, throwing little rocks down in the sea. There were seagulls flying around, but they didn’t dare to come closer. When he felt like he was recovered from the trip, he got up again and started the trip back to the village. This time he took the road, so he could stretch his muscles while walking. He wanted to do some more combat training when he got back, so he could as well already prepare himself while he was on his way.
Though it seemed like his training would be delayed. In the middle of the road, still a while from the village, a girl was sitting on the ground. A quick look learned him that she must have dropped her basket, and now she was picking everything up. For a moment he observed her a bit more, as he noticed how she was patting the ground more rather than just picking up the herbs. Before he could figure out why, she spoke up. ”Hello?" She said, looking up in his general direction, but not directly at him. And now he understood why. It was obvious that she was blind. "Who is there?" She asked. She tried to sound brave, but she seemed nervous. ”You don’t need to fear me. I am Styrr, from Skagen. Can I perhaps help you with those herbs?” He replied, in a neutral tone. Normally he wouldn’t just offer his assistance, but he knew she would probably lose a lot of the herbs she had collected because she could simply not see them. And he couldn’t let that happen if he could prevent that.

Ylva was still on the ground waiting to see if the person who was also out on the road with her was going to answer her. She had her knife, so she wasn't as scared as she would be without it. However she still hoped the person was not someone who wanted to hurt her. A knife could only do so much when you are here out on the road so far from town. Adding the fact that she was blind on top of that really didn't place things in her favor if she was in danger from the person who was out here. . ”You don’t need to fear me. I am Styrr, from Skagen. Can I perhaps help you with those herbs?” she hears form the man, Styrr, and she feels a little bit better. She had heard his name before. He was a viking, and from what she had heard about him he was a very good fighter. He was strong, and feared by others. Plus the face that he was from her village made her feel better then it being someone she had know idea who they were."Hello Styrr" she says to him first making sure to give him one of her biggest smiles. She wanted to be polite to him, even more so seeing as he was offering to help her big up all of her plants and herbs.
Taking a deep breath she nods her head at him. "I would love some help actually, thank you very much." she tells him with another smile, hopefully aimed in the right direction. "My name is Ylva, if you didn't know...I am also from Skagen." she tells him next. She is use to people not knowing her name, but at least knowing she is the blind girl of Skagen. Or that she was the abused daughter of Halvor, a viking who was nothing but a disgrace to the village. Seeing as he all but refused to work with Halfdan, and often spoke badly about the earl. "I had been on my way back to the village when I tipped and dropped my things." she says to him next. Wanting to try and explain why she was on the ground in the first place, so he wouldn't think she was weird for being out here like this the way she was.

It was strange that this blind girl was outside of Skagen, a long way from the safety of the walls. It was way too dangerous. Not only were there wild animals, but also people wandering around. People who would maybe have other intentions than he had. It didn’t seem like she had valuable items on her, but there were other things people could do to her than simply robbing her. He himself never left the village without his gigantic sword strapped to his back. It was also a warning to others. Don’t attack, because I am armed and I sure know how to use this sword as well. But this girl was not visibly armed, and he doubted that she would be able to use a sword with her condition anyways. The sooner she could go back to Skagen the better. So he offered her to help. She highly appreciated the offer, as she shot a bright smile at him when he suggested it.
"I would love some help actually, thank you very much." She said, with the same smile around her lips still. "My name is Ylva, if you didn't know...I am also from Skagen." She then introduced herself. ”I have heard your name, I just didn’t know you looked like this”, He said, squeezing his eyes together as he inspected the young girl another time. He had heard stories, mostly about her father, but he hadn’t liked them. It was not fair how he treated her, only because he had the power. It was just wrong. "I had been on my way back to the village when I tipped and dropped my things." Ylva continued. Styrr hummed softly and dropped down to his knees as well. He started picking up the herbs. ”Why are you collecting these herbs? They are not for cooking, are they?” He then asked, inspecting the unfamiliar plants a little bit better.

Ylva was still very happy that the person who had found her out here was not a threat, and was in fact someone from her village. This could be a completely different situation, and she could be fighting someone for her life. Maybe coming out here wasn't the best idea, now that she thought about it. However she wanted to become a good healer, and this is the path to becoming a good healer, testing with different plants and herbs. To test with theses kinds of things, she had to go and get them. Ylva was't going to let being blind stop her from doing something with herself and becoming a healer. ”I have heard your name, I just didn’t know you looked like this”, she hears Styrr say to her after she gives him her name in return. This makes Ylva nod. She was sure that everyone in the village knew that there was a blind girl wondering around, but not everyone had seen her with their own eyes before. Ylva had a pretty strict routine before deciding to become a healer. She woke up, went to the shoreline all day, and then went back home. Sometimes she would stop to see other people, but most of that time that was what her day looked like. "I understand, do I fit with what you had thought I would look like?" she asked him with a light smile. On the ground and helpless, was what she looked like at the moment, but she was interested in hearing what he was going to say to her in return to the question.
She hears him let out a hum when she explains why she is on the ground, just before he is on the gourd helping her pick up the rest of the things she dropped. ”Why are you collecting these herbs? They are not for cooking, are they?” she hears him ask her and Ylva smiles and lets out a small giggle. "You are right they are not." she says to him before smiling more."I am training myself to become a healer, or at least trying to anyway. So I came out here to get more herbs to test with." she says to him as she reaches forward and drops a few more herbs into her basket. "I've made all kinds of things so far, like rubs for infection, medicine for pain, things like that." she says to him first."I test them on myself....because I get hurt a lot..." she says after, trailing off awkwardly. People would know why she was hurt a lot, so she didn't feel like making things weird, and explaining because her father beat her. Even if he had stopped after Freyja attacked him, Ylva just was waiting until he decided to hit her again, when he felt he could get away with it once more. "Why are you all the way out here Styrr?" she asked him next. She didn't want to be rude and have the whole conversation to be all about her.

Honestly, he had to admit that it was brave of her to come out here on her own. Brave and a little bit stupid. But hadn’t he been the same when he had been her age? Probably yes. That, and impulsive as well. Without any good reasons too. It seemed like at least she had a purpose to be here. She was collecting herbs. When he was stomping around Skagen, his only ‘goal’ was causing trouble. Hurting people. Getting hurt as well. He had been quite the bully when he was younger, and from time to time he picked on people that had been stronger than him. It should have taught him to leave others alone, but it had taken him much longer to realise bullying wasn’t okay. But eventually he had changed. Now he was helping people instead of making their lives harder than it already was.
"I understand, do I fit with what you had thought I would look like?" She asked after his comment. ”I’m not one who has many expectations”, He replied, the tone in his voice pensive. He had never really imagined what she looked like exactly. He had probably seen her at the beach a couple of times, without realising she was the blind girl. It didn’t really matter. As he had no expectations, he also didn’t judge. So he brushed off the subject by asking her about the herbs. Apparently she needed them for healing purposes. A kind of skill he had no knowledge about. ”I’m sorry about that”, He replied quietly. It was not right of her father to do that to her.
"Why are you all the way out here Styrr?" She then asked. He stopped picking up herbs for a second. ”I was training by the cliffs”, He answered her question. Next, he put a whole bunch of herbs in her basket and returned to picking up some more. The warrior went quiet for a while, thinking about the situation. He was clever but he sometimes needed a few minutes to really think about a good plan. He usually wasn’t the one to come up with great plans, he rather passed that responsibility to other people. But at last, he came up with a rough idea. ”Do you go out by yourself often? I train quite a lot outside the village, maybe we can go together next time so you don’t have to go alone”, He proposed. They could both do their own thing, but he could stay close to her in case she needed help.

Ylva was proud of how brave she was being and how bold she was being too. Slowly but surly the shy weak little girl that she had been was leaving, and in her place was someone who was going to get stronger. Someone who was going to get better, and better. Ylva wanted to become someone she could be proud of herself, and someone that others, like Ivar, could be proud of too. She knew that there was still so many thing she didn't know about in life. Things she didn't understand, but she wanted to better herself. She didn't want to be the weak little blind girl who's father beat her because he hated her. No, Ylva wanted to be a strong healer that people trusted to be the best, who just happened to be blind as well. So that was why she put herself in dangerous places and went to places maybe she shouldn't go. So being more bold she asked him if she was what he thought she would be like. ”I’m not one who has many expectations”, he says to her in reply and Ylva can understand that. Expecting things wasn't always the smartest thing to do she was sure.
She goes on to explain to him that he was right, she was not out here to collect the things she was getting for cooking. One because some of them would be bad to eat, and two because she couldn't see to cook even if she wanted to do so. Ylva was sure she would burn herself a lot before she would actually get any actual cooking done. However she explained that she was trying to become a healer to him, and that she uses herself as practice because she was hurt a lot. ”I’m sorry about that”, she heard Styrr say to her somewhat quietly and Ylva just nods her head for a moment."Thank you...something happened that made it stop for now...maybe I'm lucky and it will be done for good..." she says to him awkwardly, not wanting to talk about it too much."I don't hold high hopes, but oh well." she says to him next and then tries to shot him a brave smile.
A change of subject was in order, so Ylva had asked him what he was doing. Interested in why he was out here like she was, and wanting the conversation off how she was beaten by her father. ”I was training by the cliffs”, Sytrr says to he and she sits up and gives him what she is sure is a look of surprise. She had never been to the cliffs for many reasons, but training near them must be just as dangerous."Training by the cliffs? That sounds so interesting...Ive never been there. Its a little to dangerous I think." she says to him before letting out a light laugh. "Ive heard they are very pretty however." she says next before giving him her best shrug. Ylva found that she rather liked to be in Styrr's company. He had been nothing but nice to her this whole time. It just went to show that not everything you heard was true. Not if he was this nice like this all the time, and she had heard other things.
When she was pretty sure everything that had fallen was picked up, Ylva was just about to stand up when she heard Styrr speak again. He had been quiet for a few moments, and she had worried she had maybe said something wrong. However what he said was very kind and thoughtful, and it though her off completely. ”Do you go out by yourself often? I train quite a lot outside the village, maybe we can go together next time so you don’t have to go alone”, were his words to her and Ylva was very touched that he would even thing of something like that. Most people didn't care if she was walking around alone like she as doing right now, but it was clear to her that Styrr cared. Smiling at him brightly Ylva nodded her head at him. "I would like that a lot actually for I do go out mostly by myself." she says to him first before adding "That is very kind of you to offer me this...and I thank you greatly for everything" she tells him. "If you ever get hurt, I'll be happy to heal you...even if I am still learning!" she makes sure to tell him last.
