Haskell
Haskell never got bored by seeing training, or fights, or people trying to prove themselves. Over the years all he did is grow and in a way he could see himself in all of those people, young Vikings and shield maidens, training here before him. Today it wasn’t only Haskell alone watching, the real Vikings and shield maidens where there to train to, what give a pretty good balance, experienced fighting the less experienced. Now at least Haskell had some fun for himself to. He fought some of his companions, amusing themselves, bragging out, showing off for the young future fighting man of the earl in Skagen. Haskell laughed as he surprised a man by tackling him on the ground. ‘You are getting old friend.’ Haskell chuckled, offering his hand so he could help the man back up, which he did. ‘You aren’t apparently.’ ‘I still learn from the young.’ Haskell nodded to his young fighters. These days they could have so pretty good tricks up their sleeves, and who would Haskell be to not use them on a occasion or two. It was his way of encouraging them to fight harder, by showing they were different, that he still could learn even from the most unexperienced ones. He saw it as a good time to dismiss his group from training. They all nodded respectfully and Haskell smiled, looking them by as they returned to their homes and lives.
A way for Haskell to come to peace with himself was going home or at least take a moment. He sat on a log, looking out over a little piece of pasture, grass jumping under the wind as his hair did to. He looked down to his sword that laid in his hand, resting against the ground. He turned it around, looking to his shiny blade before he stroke a finger over the stone imbedded in it. It was a stone he got from his father, that he required from the only travel he did in his life. The orange stone sparkled a little in the sun and Haskell pulled up the corner of his lips, admiring the precise manor this sword was made. Haskell his eyes traveled up, looking over the landscape before he pushed up, shoving his sword away over his shoulder. Time to look that friend up.
He was often so busy serving Halfdan and Harald and training those future Vikings and shieldmaidens, that he forgot about the things around him. He went hardly home to his parents, or Vern for that matter and the times he was over their passed way to fast. He should get a horse one day, would save time. He nodded to a few people while walking into the center of the village. Walking the streets he walked so often, greeting the people that were familiar. Growing up here gave him the advantage to know everybody, what worked out for the better for Halfdan who wasn’t here all his life. Haskell stopped at the blacksmith, walking in with a short knock against the door. ‘Is the fierce sword builder in today?’ He asked, looking away from the heating fire to the rest of the blacksmith, where was that friend of him hanging around. He pasted some foot and tore a piece of bread off before settling his eyes on a series of swords. He studied them, the fine steel, the good art, Hakon know what he was doing, that was why he was the best in the first place.

Hakon had a tendency to get sucked into his projects, and today was one of those days. He'd had an order for a new sword, and he'd spent the morning heating the steel to soften it, then forging the shape of the blade with his hammer. The large work of the sword was done now, the blade itself was made. This was to be a special blade, though. He was asked to place runes along the length of the blade, for luck and strength and protection, for skill in battle, and he had just carving the angular shapes into the metal and stuck the sword back into the forge. He stood beside it, wiping sweat from his brow and peering into the forge itself, to see when the metal glowed red as cherries. He reached his large tongs into the forge and grabbed the long, broad sword by the tang. He plunged it into the large barrel of sea water, watching the rising, hissing cloud of steam with satisfaction.
A short, sharp knock sounds on his door and it swings open. He's behind the forge itself, so he can't see who it is, but he recognizes Haskell's voice. He gives the blade a few more seconds in the water before pulling it out. He walks around the forge and gives Haskell a small, genuine smile. He sets the still-smoking sword down on his worktable, carefully pushing aside pieces of antler and wood and he uses for handles. Most of Hakon's forge is immaculate, except for his worktable. It's always littered with various scraps of material and discarded handles when the one he's making isn't up to his standard.
He takes a few steps away from the chaotic table toward the door, pulling the large, heavy leather apron over his head. His clothes beneath it are clean, albeit sweaty, but it's always at least twenty degrees warmer in his shop than it is outside. "Where else would a sword-builder be?" He quirks his eyebrows, a small smirk tilting up the corners of his mouth. "What's more surprising is where the radningar is. Training done for the day?" Hakon isn't necessarily good at conversations, at being friendly, but it's something he's been working on since he opened his shop for business. A tall, lean man with huge arms and a frown, surrounded by weapons and hammers, isn't exactly the best for business. People want their blacksmiths smiling. He picks absently at a small, scabbed-over burn on his left arm.

Haskell
They grew up way to fast, Haskell noticed that by the changes around him, the ways he grew in the favor of the earl and others. Sometimes even the tiniest little things reminded him of the days he was young and restless, looking for the adventures he now had. That blacksmith reminded him of that, how often he brought time through around here. Not for the art of making swords but more for the friend he found himself on those streets, Hakon. And that little boy from back in the day was now one of the most recognizable man walking around in Skagen, the blacksmith every warrior came to if they needed to get something done. Just as Haskell was recognizable on his way, being a skilled swordsmen and the teacher of many young people.
When he walked in he didn’t see Hakon right away so his eyes drifted away to what that man was making these days. All his forge work was clean, with his own signature in the smallest of details. Haskell had a lot of interest in the weapons Hakon made and he was especially the most happy with his own sword that turned out to be the further extend of his arm. His lips quirked up a little, stroke his finger over the shiny surface of one of the swords. His attention faded by the sounds from behind him, he turned around and smiled in an instant when he saw Hakon walking away from his work table in the back. ‘Drinking around the beautiful woman.’ He suggested on the words. ‘I know there are a lot interested in a swords builder like you.’ He taunted him a little.
He walked in between the things over towards Hakon when he asked what Haskell was doing here. Haskell chuckled, laying his hand on Hakon his shoulder as he arrived. ‘I thought, what would my friend be doing?’ He paused his words for a minut, petting his shoulder firmly. ‘So I stopped working to find out.’ He winked friendly, looking around him. ‘By the looks of it that friend of mine is doing well.’ He smiled, gazing his eyes over the instruments before looking aside to Hakon, awaiting his answer.

It was strange how the passage of time changed things, and both men had grown from scrawny, mischievous boys to the men they were now. Men who were easily recognizable, men who were known in Skagen for different reasons. Haskell for his fighting skills and his position, Hakon for his work. It would be a challenge to find a pair of more unlikely friends than Haskell and Hakon: one good-natured and smiling, one solemn and seldom smiling. One friendly and outgoing, the other quiet and reserved. But they both worked hard, both were loyal, both were passionate about their work, and they'd known each other since childhood. They'd had vastly different childhoods, the farmer's son and the orphan, but somehow they'd understood each other and become friends. It was a friendship that had endured many changes, many years, and Hakon was grateful for it.
He steps from behind his forge and watches as Haskell surveys the small knives and axes he has on display. His shelves are less full than usual, just a day or two ago he'd walked around Skagen and delivered some finished projects to his clients. He only quirks his brow when Haskell suggests he could be drinking around the beautiful women, then he outright chuckles when Haskell says he knows there are plenty of women interested in a sword-builder like him. It wasn't untrue, but.... It wasn't exactly untrue, either. Growing up with nothing, Hakon often believes that's what he deserves. His forge and his house are more than he ever thought he would have, and he's grateful for them and grateful for the fact that he has the ability to work hard and provide himself with a good life. But he's poured all his energy into that, and hasn't spent much time focusing on building relationships. He never lacks for female company if he desires it, but he seldom spends the night with the same girl twice. "I think women prefer men who smile." In an instant he wipes the smile from his face, widening his eyes slightly so he looks menacing, maybe even a bit mad. But he drops the expression quickly, his small, easy smile returning. "And why aren't you drinking among the beautiful women? I know they flock to you." He raises his eyebrows, giving Haskell a suggestive smirk, and deciding that he and Haskell need to go drinking together again sometime soon. It's been too long.
He smiles as he hangs his thick leather apron on its hook and Haskell approaches him. He returns Haskell's squeeze on his shoulder with one of his own, grinning over at his friend. "What I'm doing is seldom a mystery. But you, on the other hand, always seem to be doing something interesting. What news of you?" He snorts, rolling his eyes lightly. "Of course I'm doing well. I've been thinking about taking an apprentice, but you know how that ended last time." It had ended, in fact, with Hakon chasing the terrified boy from his shop with a hammer. He wasn't going to actually hurt him, of course, he just wanted the lazy, sullen boy gone for good. Hakon can hardly keep the smirk from his face, remembering. It hadn't exactly been his finest moment, but he hadn't lost much business over it, either. It had been a few years and the boy was now apprenticed to a baker or some such nonsense, and he would flinch if Hakon so much as looked at him. Of course he found that hilarious.

Haskell
Coming from nowhere wasn’t an excuse, something that Hakon and partly Haskell proved. Haskell was just a ordinary farmer boy when he grew up, his wishes was to farm lands, provide to the village, trade. That vision changed on the moment Skagen was taken over by Halfdan The Black, when Vikings destroyed the inner circle and scared away the one air to the throne there was. The farmers were left alone but it changed Haskell, he dedicated himself to a cause. Just like Hakon did, he was nobody when they crossed paths for the first time. Hakon had nowhere to go, nobody to learn him anything and here they stood. One being the teacher of many, the other a skilled blacksmith. They did good for themselves, nobody stopped them and they grew separately to their own goals. Haskell was proud of Hakon in a way, just as Vern, Hakon was some kind of a brother he never had.
Hakon was well known to be a serious person, somebody you didn’t mock or you didn’t got a swift conversation with. He did his job, he made the finest weapons and delivered them before he returned and did it all over again. He missed some social skills, what made him somebody to fear in a way. When the smiled died out Haskell laughed softly, petting his hand against Hakon his cheek, gripping him shortly. ‘They let you believe they want a man that smiles.’ He reacted, seeing the smile return he let go of Hakon and took an small knife in his hand, studying it. ‘Secretly they just love a mysterious swords builder like you.’ He followed with a short look over Hakon his body. When the question came right back he lowered the hand with the knife. ‘Maybe I smile a little too much.’ He joked, carefully laying the knife back down before eying Hakon again. ‘I wanted to see you, it’s been a rather longtime friend.’ He answered a little more honest. They were both so busy, what was good, but it didn’t leave much place for interaction. They saw each other but strictly for business and that was a shame.
Hakon hanged his thick leather apron on a hook and Haskell leaned against the edge of one of his working table. There was so much laying around that his eyes always found something new to look at. When he stated that he was an seldom mystery Haskell looked back up. ‘Mysteries are good, reason more for the woman to look at you.’ He winked. Haskell was always joking, making conversations easy and light to handle. What was new? Haskell stood close aside the earl, he knew more than others knew. ‘Harald has an alliance with Kattegat, but with Ragnar away he and Halfdan want to go over there to see what is still left of that great Ragnar Lothbrok. We will sail there, you should come, if you need supplies.’ He said, looking around. Haskell had never been to Kattegat before, he knew Harald wanted to sail back to France but with Ragnar gone who knew what would happen. When he stated that he wanted to look for a new apprentice Haskell laughed shortly. ‘The reason more to come to Kattegat, maybe you find yourself one there that can keep up with you.’ He chuckled. That boy he had first was a terrified little man now, working food instead of hammers. ‘You traumatized that boy for the rest of his life you know.’ He joked, remembering how scared the boy looked when somebody strong looking approached him. ‘You have time for a friend and a place less hotter than this?’ He pointed around with his finger. Hakon was used to this, Haskell always found it to be pretty warm when he was around here.

If there's anything Haskell and Hakon both understand, it's how to grow from nothing and make yourself into something. They've come a long way from running around getting in trouble together as children into the respectable men they are. That's not to say they never get into trouble together anymore, because they still do, and that thought is enough to make Hakon grin when Haskell mentions Katregat. He waves off the statement of mysteries being good, and focuses instead on Kattegat. Hakon has traveled a little, he went on a few raids when he was apprenticed to Vidar. His master required his apprentices to go raiding, so they would know what a warrior needed from his weapons. "Of course I'll go to Kattegat and see what their steel is like. I'm sure mine is better, but seeing theirs can't hurt." He raises his eyebrows at his friend. "If you're sure that soft traders town can handle both of us, that is."
He considers for a moment when Haskell says maybe he'll find a suitable apprentice, then shrugs. "It can't hurt to search for one. And if he didn't want to be traumatized, maybe he shouldn't have been so lazy." He shrugs. "He simply didn't have the makings of a good Smith. I won't waste my time on someone who can't handle the work." He smiles sheepishly at Haskell when he asks if he has a place less hot. He's accustomed to the heat of his forge, but most people are not. "We'll go into the house." He walks over to the front door of the shop and drops the locking bar into place. The back door of his shop leads outside, and behind the forge is a small yard containing a large woodpile, a small cart for hauling things, and Hakon's house.
He opens the door and motions Haskell inside. His house is small and neat, a table against one wall and a large hearth against the other. His pots hang in hooks on the wall and there's a sword resting on pegs above the door, a shield painted blue resting beside it. There's a pair of chairs at the table, a jug of water and loaf of bread resting on it. His old dog, lying near the hearth, lifts his head and sighs happily, stretching his head up to be stroked, and Hakon crouches down to oblige him. The dog probably doesn't have much longer left to live, but Hakon has had him since he was apprenticed to Vidar. He stays in the house and yard mostly, or sometimes accompanies Hakon in the forge, but he doesn't roam with him anymore.
Hakon stands and grabs two cups from their hanging spot on the wall, takes a jug of ale from a shelf, and pours it into the two cups. He makes a vague gesture indicating Haskell should make himself comfortable, and takes a sip of his ale before raising his eyebrows at his friend. "Better?" He grins.

Haskell
Haskell was a born fighter but even he selected some worthy, some he trusted with his life. He fought alongside of the best and most feared Vikings Skagen had known. And yet it weren’t them he was trusting to fight aside. It were people as Vern, Hakon he trusted, because there was a story, there was a connection, they knew each other. If he had to travel away and he had the choice to take somebody with him of his own choosing then it would probably be somebody like Hakon, giving the assignment. It was why he mentions it to Hakon, on traveling with him to Kattegat in the first place. Skagen never traveled much, if they did, they did it with a rather large force of power. Halfdan loved on making a mark, taking over Skagen was that, he rather wanted to keep it that way. ‘I didn’t say yours wasn’t better.’ Haskell joked with a smile. Hakon was a proud man who took his job very serious, offcourse he thought to be the best. ‘If we go, they at least know how to get better, hmm, what do you think.’ He slapped Hakon against the shoulder. Just as Hakon knew what he was doing, Haskell knew that to. He saw the both of them already walk into Skagen.
When the subject came down on that little boy that used to be taken care of Hakon he couldn’t do anything else then laugh about it. The words of Hakon made him nod, in a serious way. He was right, more than right. Haskell hated it as much in his work to, people who weren’t cut out for the job. ‘At least,’ he began, turning back to his friend. ‘he found his place now.’ He shrugged. ‘Good bread, did you taste it?’ He joked lightly, remembering that boy making bread instead of hammers. ‘In every village there is a person worthy your attention and skillset, you will find yourself somebody, just keep looking and be yourself.’ He winked. ‘Won’t be a problem, that last one.’ He chuckled, knowing that Hakon always remained 100 percent his true self.
When he suggested on going into the house Haskell nodded and pushed himself away from the table he leaned against. He followed Hakon to the back that leaded towards his own house. He had been here before, but every time he looked around, typical Haskell, like he wanted to eliminate possible threads. Hakon offered him a cup and Haskell nodded thankfully while pulling his sword over his shoulder, laying it down on the table so he could sit more comfortable. ‘Better.’ He stated on the words. He sat back, sipping his cup before looking aside to Hakon. ‘You build yourself pretty the life Hakon.’ He stated, knowing he came from nothing. ‘What else do you want, in life?’ He asked curious. He wanted for himself to rank up more than he was already, he dreamt of so much more, but his friend was a mystery on many levels so he could only ask.

Hakon chuckles as Haskell says he knows Hakon's steel is better than Kattegat's. He's a proud man, especially when it comes to his work, and he knows that's something Haskell understands. They're much the same way in that regard, these two men who are so different in so many ways. But they've grown up together, grown strong and responsible and good. And if they're both a bit prideful of their work, well, there are worse things to be than proud. They could be mean or unkind, they could be selfish and sneaky, but they aren't. If pride is their biggest downfall, then the pair of them are doing alright. Their careers have taken them on vastly different and yet entwined directions, and Hakon thinks that's a fortunate thing. It allows them the chance to remain friends, and the chance for new adventures together, like traveling to Kattegat. He returns Haskell's grin with one of his own. "Of course I'll come to Kattegat. It's been too long since I left here."
He's spent the last five years building his business, and it's finally at a point where he knows he can leave for a little while and still have customers when he returns. It's time he took a short break from Skagen, and Kattegat is as good a place as any. He chuckles, shaking his head, when Haskell says his former apprentice makes good bread. "Of course I didn't taste it, he'd probably poison me." Hakon scoffs. He shrugs. "Although I guess I'd deserve it." He groans when Haskell continues, saying he'll find someone worthy of being his apprentice if only he's himself. "Haskell, I'm not one of your warriors-in-training. Your inspirational talks don't work on me." He aims a half-hearted jab at his friend's shoulder, shaking his head. "Just be yourself. Gods. Save it for the frús." He can't help but chuckle. Haskell's advice is good, but he's right. Hakon is pretty true to himself most of the time.
He pours the ale when they enter his house and watches as Haskell sets his sword on the table so he could sit more comfortably. He remembered that sword, the forging of it and the delicate pattern in the steel. It was a beautiful blade, perhaps some of his finest work so far, and he was happy to see Haskell still carried it. He'd put all his skill and care into it and all the small smithing magics Vidar had taught him. The sword carries the kiss of flames and the embrace of the ocean, for he'd quenched it in seawater. He'd cut his own palm with the blade so it would know the taste of blood and always thirst for it. He turns his attention from the sword back to Haskell as he speaks, asking him what he wanted next in life. Hakon had never thought much past getting his forge up and running and his client base established, and now that he'd accomplished his goals, now what? Now he continued on, forging and building his client base, and he built his reputation as the best blacksmith around. He would take apprentices and teach his craft to younger men and women, and what? He raises his cup in Haskell's direction. "That's the question, isn't it? I'll keep forging, and I'll take an apprentice. Maybe find a woman, have a family. Who knows but the gods?" He takes a sip from his ale and raises his eyebrows at Haskell. "And what do you want, Haskell? You've come a long way, my friend, and built yourself an impressive reputation."

Hearing Hakon agree on the idea of following him to Kattegat made him smile. Despite Hakon was a black smith, on the inside he was some kind of a warrior to. Vikings traveled, showed of the best parts of themselves, raid … it was logic that Hakon wanted to join, only to see what Kattegat had to offer. Haskell was there on business for Halfdan but other then that he was just as curious to that village as everybody else. Kattegat still was the largest trading place, it was were Ragnar had lived and Haskell wanted to hear a lot more about the raiding expeditions Ragnar took. They wouldn’t be bored, Kattegat had so much to offer that Haskell was planning on making full use about it. ‘Good.’ Haskell smiled. ‘I will keep you updated with the travel plans.’ He nodded in approval. It would be a good way of spending some more time together at least. They were both so busy all the time this was a good moment to reconnect in their friendship.
When the conversation leaded to that boy that was once an apprentice Haskell couldn’t do anything else than having that humorous grin all over his face. He remembered it all so vivid, the look in Hakon his face for every time the boy did something wrong. He wouldn’t be able to resist the thoughts of taunting Hakon with it, until he had something else to taunt him over. ‘Poison is a woman’s weapon.’ He stated on the words, chuckling on his own thoughts. ‘Maybe he was.’ He followed in thoughts, giving Hakon a fast amusing look. That it was deserved … Haskell shook his head. But before he could say something on it Hakon protested on his words and Haskell just laughed relaxed. His body follows the kick against his shoulder and he is still laughing out loud. ‘I am being myself. You don’t appreciate some good advice, don’t you.’ He chuckled. He shook his head again and took a deep breath, holding his laugh back. It was nice, having a conversation like this.
He followed Hakon to the house, pulling his blade over his head and laying it down at the table as Hakon offered him some ale. The black smith looked at the sword, a sword that had value to him but so much more for Haskell. It carried the stone his father gave him, a stone that went generations in the family and was found on one of the first raids. Aside that value it was made by a friend and for that Haskell took very good care of it. It was not only an extend of his arm, it was almost his companion. No sword he fought better with then that sword. He brought the cup up to his lips as Hakon started talking about the future. Haskell looked to him from over his cup, drinking before he stopped on the words finding a woman and have a family. ‘Grumpy Hakon, having a woman. Didn’t you just said earlier that they are all scared of you.’ He joked, not meaning anything of it. ‘You deserve only the best, but giving you gonna kill me I’m gonna keep my inspirational talks to myself.’ He said with a not, thinking about the question that returned him. ‘Travel, fight, gain more reputation.’ He shrugged on his own words. ‘Find myself a woman and start a family.’ He winked. He was to busy for that anyway. His ambition would be to command the men and woman Halfdan had. In his vision there wasn’t a place for woman. But like Hakon said … what had the gods in store?

Now that Haskell had mentioned traveling to Kattegat, the thought of it filled him with excitement. Hakon loved his life, he loved his shop and his work and his few friends, but he still craved excitement. He hadn't left Skagen in years, not since he was still an apprentice, not since before Vidar died. And he'd been happy out of Skagen, on those raids he'd gone on years ago. It had helped prove to him that he was strong enough, that he was a Viking and not just a blacksmith. It had helped his craft, too, to learn for himself what a warrior expected of his weapons. To see the stress a weapon was expected to handle, the death and destruction it's expected to give to enemies. Hakon liked fighting, too, but he knows the gods crafted him more for the forging of weapons than the wielding of them. He likes fighting, but he loves forging. It's where he knows he belongs, in his shop in Skagen, with his house nearby and his old, loyal dog. But even so, that doesn't mean that he can't enjoy leaving if the opportunity presents itself, and he's glad it has. He's even more glad he'll get to travel with Haskell. They don't spend nearly as much time together as they once did, but they're both busy men and he supposes that's just how life is sometimes. He nods when Haskell says he'll keep him updated on the travel plans, grinning. "I'm looking forward to it."
He laughs when Haskell tells him poison is a woman's weapon, raising his eyebrows. "It may be a woman's weapon, but that has never stopped men from using it. Just like swords and axes usually being men's weapons hasn't stopped women from becoming shieldmaidens." He laughs as Haskell laughs, his body rolling with Hakon's light punch. "Of course I appreciate your good advice. Except unlike your thegns, I already know who I am. Being true to myself isn't that difficult. But at least they have your excellent advice to guide them." His tone is light and teasing, still chuckling, and he rolls his eyes slightly. Haskell is an easy person to be around, friendly and outgoing, and people seem to gravitate to him. Hakon supposes that must be what makes him such a good teacher for the young warriors. Besides that, he has a reputation as a fierce Viking, and that makes others respect him. If he wasn't a good warrior, Halfdan never would have chosen him to teach the young fighters sword-craft. Hakon ctilts his head, cracking his neck, and his next words are thoughtful. "If I do take another apprentice, though, I'll have to come to the training field and see how you teach the warriors. You're a much better teacher than I am. I can't scare off two apprentices in a row, no one will ever want to learn from me, and I do want to pass my craft along."
When they're back in the house drinking ale, Hakon inspects the weapon Haskell places on the table for a few moments before Haskell asks him what he wants from life. His gaze slides from the sword to his friend, he takes a sip of ale and considers the question. To build his craft and teach others, to follow the path the gods have set before his feet. The answer is simple and honest, and he pulls an offended look when Haskell teases him. "I am not grumpy." His voice is gruff when he says it, but he's still smiling to let his friend know the teasing isn't bothering him. He chuckles at Haskell's next statement, shrugging. "I'll just need to find a brave woman, then." He outright laughs when Haskell says Hakon will kill him. "We both know I couldn't kill you even if I wanted to. Feel free to keep giving your inspirational talks, but don't get offended if I keep rolling my eyes at them." He nods when Haskell states what he wants to do, and Hakon raises his cup toward him. "May the gods grant you all that you wish." His tone is serious, and he takes a sip of his ale, which he nearly spits out when Haskell continues and winks at him. He raises his brows as he recovers from the slight choke. "Whatever the gods have in store for you, I'm sure it will be good. Especially if you stop mocking people." He sticks his tongue out childishly, trying hard not to laugh.

Hakon would come to Kattegat, that only left he had to pull Henrik with them to, as the three of them often drank at feast together this was only a promise for a good travel if Henrik would come to. With the life the three of them were leading they weren’t that often together anymore. So it would only be for the better if the three of them with some other men would sail over to Kattegat. Even if he knew he was there on official business, to represent Halfdan The Black, it didn’t took away the fact that he would be away from Skagen. And that made Haskell urge to a good spirited raid again. Maybe in Kattegat he would find what he was looking for, an alliance or an offer that he could take back to the earl of Skagen. He wasn’t worried now, he was just looking forward to it, to sail over there with two of his best friends.
When Haskell stated that poison was a woman weapon Hakon came right back with his sight of view. ‘Some very wise words my friend.’ He joked, like Hakon was giving the good advise instead of the other way around. But he was right, these days nobody stopped at anything to get some people punished or dead for acts that really didn’t matter. He had to say … he didn’t see that boy even dare to poison Hakon. He would already be scared of the thought that the gods would punish him for killing a fine blacksmith as Hakon. When Hakon told him about his inspiration words he only chuckled, rubbing his forehead in amusement. ‘Where is the day that we were so stupid and in need for guidance.’ He stated on that, shaking his head on the many memories they both had over the years. When Hakon started talking about his apprentices again Haskell looked up from his cup with ale. He had to suppress a smile, shaking his head slightly. ‘I get the change to beat them up and get away with it, it’s t he only way they learn.’ He stated, leaning back in his seat, pointing his finger over to Hakon. ‘You will learn nothing for me expect for me being a very patient man. Beside, I loose fighters in the same way you loose your apprentices, I just have enough left in the end to go on with.’ He shrugged. Haskell was very driven in his work, in that way he could be very stern and to the point. Some people run away from that, others bite through it. Hakon just didn’t find the one who wanted to bite through it. But he didn’t say that out loud for it was again inspirational advise.
‘You are,’ Haskell protested laughing. ‘sometimes.’ He chuckled on the words that Hakon says he isn’t grumpy. Haskell was just teasing him, that they both knew. But when he said he just needed a brave woman he started laughing harder, throwing his head back. ‘I can present your some brave woman.’ He challenged his friend with an amused smile. He trained a lot of woman, or had at least. There needed to be one among there willing to dive into the fire Hakon was keeping warm. This conversation was so light and amusing he enjoyed it to the fullest. ‘Fine, roll those eyes.’ He wiped with his hand in the air towards his friend. Hakon his words got a little more serious and Haskell looked over to them before looking away in the room, slightly nodding. It didn’t stay long offcourse because Hakon said something, putting his tongue out and Haskell now rolled his eyes. ‘Then there isn’t much good for me in store, is there.’ He joked, planning on mocking people his whole life, but in a healthy way.
