A fish a plenty-Dómi&Cecilie Empty
PostSubject: A fish a plenty-Dómi&Cecilie A fish a plenty-Dómi&Cecilie EmptyMon Feb 12, 2018 3:25 pm

Things had been a little busy for Kari lately had she hadn't been able to go over and visit one of her fellow farmer families in a few days. A family that had been so kind to her when she moved out. If she was honest both farms by her were very kind to her and had been very helpful in their own way. Kjaran, the father of the house hold had been so much different then her own father, that she liked him a lot right away. Kari never minded getting helpful tips from him about how she could do things around the farm better. The mother,Eyja, was also very different from her own mother as well. So she liked talking to her a lot. Kari sometimes wondered if they had taken such a liking to her because all three of their children had left and they were using her to fill that empty hole that was there, but even if that was the case. She would never take advantage of anyone. As she had done her best to return any help they had ever given her back to them. By helping them when she saw that they needed it or other things along those lines. For they were good people and she was more than glad to help them no matter what, even if they never helped her in the first place.

So when she had a free moment, and saw that her brother and brought home more fish then they would be able to eat that day. Kari decided she would pack the extra fish up and go over to them and give them some to eat. This hadn't been the first time she had brought fish or other food over to them, and they had sometimes done the same thing for her. So Kari didn't feel at all awkward in doing this. She was actually close enough with them, that most of the time when she went over, she would knock once before going inside to make sure they knew she was there. If they were busy she would set things down and go, and if they were free she would stay and chat. It was nice to have people like them and Haskell's family in her life. As Kari was fairly busy a lot of the time between the farm and her crazy brother, she didn't have a lot in the ways of friends. Sure she had friends, it wasn't that she didn't. However it wasn't like she went out of her way and into the village all the time. She was usually pretty busy, and that was just her life. A life she was looking to change up a bit now that she was getting older. Kari wanted to work a little less, and meet people more now that her farm was more settled and making her money.

Walking over to the house, Kari Knocked a few times before opening the door."Its me Kari" she shouted first as she walked in and headed toward the counter. Figuring that they were busy today."Ari brought home far to much fish for just the two of us again, so I'll just leave the extra on the table for you." she says again as se walks into the farm house a little farther. However she sees that the house was not in fact empty, and that it looked like their children were home. "Oh, hello..." Kari found herself saying to them, feeling a little bit awkward. "I figured you were busy, and I was just going to leave it like I normally do" she says to them next. Feeling even more awkward when she can see that they are not their normal happy selfs. Unsure what to do, she looks toward the children, who she guessed where not children, and were actually much older then herself. "Hi I'm Kari Asgersdóttir. I live in the farm close by." she says to them, making sure to give them a smile. Looking around for a moment she speaks once more "If this is a bad time, I'll leave the fish and come back later. I didn't mean to intrude." Kari says to them all last.

A fish a plenty-Dómi&Cecilie Empty
PostSubject: Re: A fish a plenty-Dómi&Cecilie A fish a plenty-Dómi&Cecilie EmptyMon Feb 12, 2018 8:55 pm

They’d only been in Skagen for a few days but Cecilie was honestly surprised by how different it all felt. She’d imagined coming back here, to her parents farm, to the village she’d lived in until adulthood, and it would feel like home. But it didn’t. She felt awkward, and out of place. Like she didn’t belong here anymore. It was the same feeling she’d had at their house in Kattegat. She knew she was never going back there. Not permanently, at least. Perhaps to visit her friends but the thought of even going back there right now made her eyes sting and her throat ache from trying to fight back the tears. It was a familiar ache, at this point.

She’d known almost immediately that she couldn’t stay on the farm. She’d made sure her parents were taking the news about Elias as well as could be expected, and promised to spend lots of time there helping out, but had pulled Dómi aside fairly quickly to talk about finding their own place. The farm was almost worse than Kattegat. They’d only been in Kattegat for a few years. She had twenty years worth of memories with her brother here.

Sitting quietly with Dómi at the table, Cecilie was playing with the kitten she’d found at the house they’d purchased together in the village. She was a little thing, and white all over with the biggest blue eyes she’d ever seen on a cat. And Cecilie had named her Bryn. She was pulling a bit of ribbon around on the table top, as Bryn chased after it, and it was just distracting enough to make her smile.

Someone apparently had come into the house, and was talking about fish and Cecilie exchanged a look with her brother before a young woman came into view. Quirking an eyebrow in her direction, Cecilie finally realized she knew her, after she introduced herself. Kari was a few years younger than she was, and had grown up on a farm not too far from her parents. “Hi, I’m Cecilie. I don’t know if you remember us…” she trailed off, trying to recall what the other woman had been saying when she’d walked into the house. “You’re bringing fish? For our parents? That’s very kind of you.” Looking from Kari to where she’d just popped in unannounced, Cecilie continued pulling the ribbon around the table for the kitten to play with without taking her attention from the younger woman. “Would you like to sit? Do you come by often?” That was very thoughtful of her, if she did. Ceci didn’t know why she did it, but she was grateful nonetheless.

A fish a plenty-Dómi&Cecilie Empty
PostSubject: Re: A fish a plenty-Dómi&Cecilie A fish a plenty-Dómi&Cecilie EmptyFri Feb 16, 2018 3:16 am

Being back in Skagen was strange for him. Not much had changed in the time that he’s been away. When he was young it was something he hated the most about the village. He’d always felt stuck here in a place that time seemed to forget. Except now he’d found the familiarity oddly comforting. That was something that he never thought he would think. He’d spent his formative years telling everyone he was going to leave as soon as he could. He always wanted more from life than anything Skagen had to offer. He was convinced there was something better out there than the place he called home. Now that he’d been back for a few days and managed to catch up with his old friends he thought perhaps he’d always been a bit too harsh on everything Skagen had to offer. It wasn’t that bad. Sure, there was room for improvement like anything, but he could actually seem himself being happy here, which would have never been the case at all. Heck, he’d even purchased a house with his sister near the docks that apparently came with a free kitten.

He watched on while his sister played with their new family member at the table with is own dog Bene curled up at his feet under the table. Domi didn’t want to say that he didn’t like kittens because that wasn’t the case. Kitten were just fine, they were kind of cute even. It was cats he had a problem with because quite frankly cats were assholes. They were not always happy to see you like dogs and in fact they could completely hate you. But he couldn't say no to Cecilie especially since it was the first time in what felt like forever he’d seen her smile. So if he had to allow cat to make her happy then he’d allow cat. But perhaps he could teach it to fetch? He was able to teach Bene so why not a cat.

He heard a knock at the door and furrowed his brow. His parents hadn’t said anything about expecting a visitor, well that he recalled. A woman came through the door holding fish and announcing herself almost like she did this often. She paused when she saw them sitting there to say hi. He suspected it wasn’t everyday that she came into his parents house and found their children who she’d likely been told by their mother while she wept that her children moved out over 10 years ago.

He reached down and ducked his head to see under the table to where he could feel Bene trying to get up to go greet the new person who had food in her hands. He wasn’t sure how she felt about dogs or if she’d be okay with Bene wanting to be friendly. He was a good dog, but he understood that some crazy people didn't like them. The last thing he wanted for his dog to frighten her. “Leave it.” he quietly, patting him to get him to lay down again, which he did.

“Hi, I’m Domi.” He said with a grin turning his attention back to the young woman who introduced herself as Kari. He remembered her vaguely from growing up even though she was a bit younger than he was.

He listened while Cecilie responded and took up all the talking points as per usual. Not that he minded of course. He was used to this. Though he briefly considered telling her as a joke that no fish, but the ones he caught were the only ones allowed in the house, but he didn't really know her like that so he refrained.

A fish a plenty-Dómi&Cecilie Empty
PostSubject: Re: A fish a plenty-Dómi&Cecilie A fish a plenty-Dómi&Cecilie EmptyFri Feb 16, 2018 5:05 pm

A nice gesture on her behalf turned into something rather awkward very fast. She had know idea that their children where home, and if she had she would have never just walked into the house like she had done. Kari was not even sure how to begin to explain that she was close to their parents and thats why she had just walked right inside like she owned the place. That must seem so weird to them, and the thought of them thinking she was weird made her feel even more awkward if she was honest with herself. So she made sure to intrude herself to their children, and then offered to leave it was a bad time for them. However their pretty daughter spoke to her first. “Hi, I’m Cecilie. I don’t know if you remember us…” Kari hears her say to her first, and she nods her head that she does remember them. Even if it was only vaguely and from what their parents said about them. Kari was pretty sure there had been three siblings, and so maybe one of them was still staying back in Kattegat at the moment. She watched at the man, settled what looked to be an adorable dog under neath the table before be smiled at her and said “Hi, I’m Domi.” to her. She smiled at him in return.

Looking back to Cecilie who was playing with a very pretty kitten on the table. Kari was still thinking about leaving the fish and going home, but then she hears Ceceilie speak to her again. “You’re bringing fish? For our parents? That’s very kind of you.” to her. Kari smiles at her and nods her head once more. Realizing maybe she should speak and stop just nodding."Yes, my younger brother Ari is a fisherman. So when he brings home too much for us I always bring the extra to your parents." she says to her politely. Cecilie kept playing with the kitten, but her eyes never left Kari's body as she said “Would you like to sit? Do you come by often?” to her next. Smiling at her again she nods her head once more. Setting the fish on the counter in, she walks over toward where they are sitting and takes a seat. "Thank you for inviting me to stay after I came in like that, I can promise it's normal...I have been busy for a few days. However most of the time I see your partners a few times a week." she says to them both first.

"When I moved out a few years back and started my own farm, they had been very helpful to me. Took my brother and I under there wing in a way, and so we grew close. Your parents are wonderful people, you are very lucky. They are far better then my own, so it was nice to have them in my life the way they put themselves there." Kari says to them next. At least now that she was talking to them and sitting she felt less awkward then when she just walked it. Kari would have to remember not to just walk inside anymore like she had done today. She would need to knock so their children didn't think she was a rude person with no manners. "I do remember you too, but even if I couldn't remember you...your parents talk about you all the time. About how much they missed you both and your brother." she says to them next before adding "I am sure they are happy you are back in the village to see them."to them. After a second she asks "Did your brother decide to stay in Kattegat while you came to visit?" she says to them next with a smile. It made sense to her they were visiting, but she could be wrong. Two of them could have moved here while one of them stayed in Kattegat, but from what she had heard they were all very close so she would be surprised if they moved in separate place like that.

PostSubject: Re: A fish a plenty-Dómi&Cecilie A fish a plenty-Dómi&Cecilie EmptyFri Feb 16, 2018 11:51 pm

Kari nodded that she did remember them, and Ceci smiled in return. That was good. If she was close enough to their parents that she just wandered into the house when she felt like it, finding a pair of strangers there could be quite alarming, she imagined. She heard Bene getting excited, either about the fish or the stranger, Cecilie wasn’t certain, and smiled at the thought. And then Dómi simply introduced himself, and now that was all out of the way.

As the younger woman answered her questions, Cecilie found herself feeling both grateful and sad all at once, hearing how close Kari had grown to their parents. She was glad they had someone who thought of them, and visited often, and it wasn’t just the two of them alone on the farm all the time. But she felt badly that it was Kari doing these things for them and not their own children. They’d never stood in the way or expressed real disappointment in the decisions their children had made, and Cecilie was honestly embarrassed that she was only just considering that her parents could have been lonely out here. Granted, she was fairly sad all the time these days, so it didn’t take much for her mind to wander into more distressing territory, but she was glad they were back.

She hadn’t missed the part about Kari’s parents not being very nice, and was somewhat comforted by the fact that it sounded like it was a mutually beneficial relationship. Kari had a kind, caring older couple helping her start her farm, and their parents had someone coming to visit periodically. “Well, I’m glad you’re here,” she answered with a smile. “And thank you for the fish,” she added with a bit of a laugh. It was especially funny because Dómi was also a fisherman now, but when they’d left he’d been a viking, and she certainly couldn’t expect her to know he was a fisherman if she hadn’t even known they’d returned in the first place.

Cecilie exchanged a look with Dómi when Kari mentioned that their parents talked about them all the time. It was probably meant to be a nice thing to say, but once again Ceci found herself feeling selfish and ungrateful. She took a deep breath, preparing to force a smile and think of some way to reply to that when Kari asked about Elias. Who she obviously wouldn’t have heard about yet. “Well… um,” she cleared her throat softly, “No, he isn’t in Kattegat. That’s why we’re back.” There was no real delicate way to explain what had happened, and she was cowardly hoping Dómi could handle this part of the conversation. Cecilie didn’t like hiding from things, but she knew this was going to be the first of what she assumed was many times she’d be in a situation like this. She’d have to get used to it.

While she was engrossed with all the talking going on, Cecilie had stopped dragging the bit of ribbon along the table, and Bryn grew bored it seemed. She was peering off the side of the table and would occasionally take a swipe at Bene’s tail when it wagged back and forth, and Cecilie was thankful for the distraction for a moment.

Not wanting to leave the conversation hanging on such a sad topic, mostly because she really didn’t want to talk about Elias at all right now, Cecilie perked up a bit and tried to smile towards Kari. “So you have your own farm now? And your brother lives with you? That must be nice?” She didn’t remember Kari’s brother and assumed he must’ve been fairly young when they’d left. And she didn’t think she was fooling anyone for a second with this abrupt and awkward change of topic, but hopefully they’d all follow her lead and just move on.

A fish a plenty-Dómi&Cecilie Empty
PostSubject: Re: A fish a plenty-Dómi&Cecilie A fish a plenty-Dómi&Cecilie EmptyMon Feb 19, 2018 2:51 am

He’d heard her say that her brother was a fisherman. He figured he’d likely seen her brother on the docks, but hadn’t realized that it was him. “I am too, a fisherman that is. I’ll probably see him around.” He made a mental note to keep an eye for him. He wasn’t opposed to making new friends especially one that did the same job that he did. This a change for him from when he’d been living in Kattegat where he’d been a viking. It’d been a rather drastic change one that he wondered sometimes if he’d impulsively made. He didn’t dwell on it long usually because it led down a road that he didn’t even want to go down.

He nodded when Cecilie said that it was nice of her to bring the fish by to their parents and visited with them. He felt the same way. Someone needed to keep their parents company since they had left all of those years ago. He felt sort of grateful to her since it wasn’t something that she had to do, but wanted to. Now that they were back it seemed likely that they’d be visiting more often. He knew his mother was already excited to have them back under her roof for just the few days since they returned. She made all of their favorite dinners and fixed up their old rooms trying to make things as homey as possible for their stay. He’d felt bad though because for him all of her efforts were in vain, but it wasn’t her fault. It was unsettling to be back in his old room without Elias since they used to share it when they were kids. There was this eeriness that had settled into the house and crept into his bones. It was like he expected to Elias to burst through the door in his own boisterous way to tell him this whole thing was a practical joke. In fact, he preferred that to the reality that he witnessed.

He checked on Bene again when Kari came to sit with them to make sure he didn’t run right up to her and put his nose in her hand demanding attention. His dog looked up at him with his cute puppy dog eyes that seemed to say ‘c’mon I just want to make a new friend.’ He just shook his head and patted Bene, “no,” he said. Bene had always minded well, not that Dómi would have expected anything less. He’d put a lot of time in into training him from the time he was a puppy to ensure that outcome.

Kari had mentioned that her own parents weren’t great and how his parents had helped her get her farm up and running. His parents were like that, giving and kind with a soft spot for others who needed help. He couldn’t help, but feel like they’d somewhat adopted Kari as their pseudo child in lew of their own children not being around. Guilt is what came over him next. Perhaps he shouldn’t have left and stayed here, become a farmer just like his father always hinted that he wanted. A younger Dómi would have become resentful and felt that his choices weren’t his own. His mother had always told him that from the time he was born he was stubborn and strong willed with a vision always situated on the horizon wanting to achieve the greatest heights. It was something he’d felt he couldn’t do from a rural farm in Skagen. These thoughts did little to temper the negative emotions despite the logic behind his choices. That was his problem 90% of the time, he wanted to do it all and be it all to make everyone happy even though it was a firm impossibility.

At her asking if his brother was still in Kattegat, it’s like his eyes glazed over for a moment and he was back in their old house looking into his brother’s panicked blue eyes. “I’m gonna die aren’t I, Dómi!” “You’re not, you’re going to be fine,” he’d told him in response as calmly as he could manage to keep Elias as relaxed as possible to make Cecilie’s job easier. He knew just by looking at the wound and the amount of blood to know deep down that it was a death sentence. He’d been on enough battlefields to know that everyone who had something similar never walked away from it without being left to die on the field or later put into a mass grave. He had the utmost faith in Cecilie and her abilities. She’d learned from their grandmother who was a great healer. He wanted to believe she could save him and that she would. But he was too much of a realist. He knew then even while Cecilie was working that these moments with his little brother would be his last ever so he better make them count.

Cecilie had said in the meantime of him zoning out, telling Kari that their brother wasn’t in Kattegat and that was why they were back. She just left the thread hanging out there of where Elias was currently. He could sense that she wanted him pick it up and just say it. He was fine with it as long as Kari didn’t want to dwell long on the topic. “Our brother died.” He said honestly. Dómi had never known how to put things delicately. He just preferred to tell things like he saw them even with the uncomfortable topics. He felt sort of bad for how he chose to say it, but Kari asked and he answered.

Thankfully Cecilie jumped back in to turn the conversation away from the awkward stuff and back onto Kari herself. He sent her a silent telepathic message thanking her for changing the subject.

A fish a plenty-Dómi&Cecilie Empty
PostSubject: Re: A fish a plenty-Dómi&Cecilie A fish a plenty-Dómi&Cecilie EmptyMon Feb 19, 2018 5:49 pm

She was glad that the pair of siblings invited her to sit down. It would give her time to explain things to them. Like why she was just walking into their house, and why she was brining fish to them in the first place. She decides to explain the fish first, that Ari was a fisherman and she was bringing over the extra. “I am too, a fisherman that is. I’ll probably see him around.” she hers Dómi say to her in return. Kari gives him a smile and nods her head at his words. In her mind she was a bit confused, she was almost certain his parents had told her that both of their sons were vikings. However people change their minds, and maybe he had simply changed his mind about the whole thing. Maybe she would ask on it at a later time, for she could also be the one that was remembering wrong as well. "If you see a tall skinny blonde boy, possible getting into trouble, then you will know its him." she tells him in return with another smile. Hopefully her trouble maker of a brother would not give the other man problems, maybe she would need to mention it to him. However with her luck, asking Ari to do one thing would make the boy surly do the other just to spite her. Or to embarrasses her for his own enjoyment or entertainment, she wasn't sure which would be worse.

Kari goes on to explain that she had grown close to their parents, and that they were better then her own. Them being so good to her had given her hope, and made her happy in many ways. Giving her an idea of how her parents should have been, and showing her love. “Well, I’m glad you’re here,” Cecilie says to her first, and Kari smiles brightly. It makes her feel much less awkward if their children were okay with her being here and being close to their parents. “And thank you for the fish,” she hears the other women add in next with a small laugh. Kari guessed it was a little funny, if she was brining fish to them when their own son was a fisherman himself. "You're welcome, I am always glad to help, but I don't think that your parents are going to need me to bring them any fish while you are here." she says to them next before before sending Dómi a small smile. Kari didn't want to take away his job from him, to bring fish or other things to his parents. Kari noticed the little puppy excited to see her under the table and made sure to stick her hand underneath to give the sweet animal a little wave. Her being a lover of all animals, it was important to make them all feel loved. At least she thought it was important anyways.

Things seemed to shift from going well to going badly very quickly, and it was all because she deiced to ask if their bother had stayed in Kattegat. Kari could tell by the sudden shift in them both that she had just made a horrible mistake.“Well… um,” she hears Cecilie say to her first and she already can tell what the other women is going to say might not be good. “No, he isn’t in Kattegat. That’s why we’re back.” Cecilie says to her and Kari goes to nod her head, maybe he was somewhere else. Maybe she was just assuming the worst,. However the words that come out of Dómi's mouth make her freeze. “Our brother died.” he tells her. Her face must look silly to them she is sure. Her mouth is open, but no words come out for a few seconds. She feels a combination of horrible and cruel all at once. Kari would have never asked such a thing if she had any indication something had happened to one of the children. "Oh gods.." she finds herself saying finally after what feels like an eternity. "I am so, so sorry. I had know idea, I'm so sorry for both of you losses..." she says to them both next. Trying to think of the right words to say without making things even worse then she had done in the fist place.

However Cecilie was just as sweet and kind as her mother and father had made her out to be. She was already trying to change the subject. “So you have your own farm now? And your brother lives with you? That must be nice?” the other women asked her, and it took Kari a moment to take a deep breath and return Cecilie's smile. It was clear they didn't want to talk about it, and Kari would never be rude enough to ask questions about things such as that. If they wanted to share anything with her she was sure that the two of them would. Or that their parents would tell her as well, however all this made her feel even worse for being so busy the last few days. Their parents must be taking this very hard. She will have to bring them something later on, fresh bread or some kind of meal. She would have to think on it before rushing into some kind of idea. She didn't want them to think she was doing it out of pity. "Yes, for four years now." she says to her first. "Ari does live with me too, I couldn't leave him with our father...and Ive been trying my best to raise him since our mother left anyways....so it was best that he came with me." she says to them next. Hoping she was not over sharing or making things even more awkward.

"It's very nice though. I raise mostly animals for the village, and some fruits in the summer. So I love what I do, and it makes it a lot easier." she says to them next. With a smile she decides to ask them "So are you going to be staying with your parents again, or finding something else?" Kari wanted to keep the conversation going and she wanted to make up for her horrible mistake of asking about their brother. She should have realized something was going on when he was not here with them. "Oh and you don't have to hold your dog back, I love all animals. So as long as they don't bite I don't mind being jumped on." she says as she smiles at the little puppy at their feet. Kari had always wanted a dog, or to raise dogs. However her silly little fox Angan kept her from doing that. With his over protective nature, and the fact that hew as jealous of dogs for some reason. Kari had never understood why he was, the fox must have had a bad time with a dog before she found him.

A fish a plenty-Dómi&Cecilie Empty
PostSubject: Re: A fish a plenty-Dómi&Cecilie A fish a plenty-Dómi&Cecilie EmptyTue Feb 20, 2018 7:40 pm

Dómi told Kari that he was also a fisherman, and while Cecilie certainly thought it was funny that she’d brought fish for them, she still felt weird hearing her brother telling people he was a fisherman. For the last ten years he’d been a viking. It was like they returned to Skagen and everything about them was different. There was nothing obviously different about her, of course. She hadn’t changed professions suddenly like her brother. But until recently, she’d been a twin; Part of a pair. And now it was different. Just her. She hadn’t quite adjusted yet. And while she did think her brother was overreacting, she wasn’t going to tell Dómi that. He was safer as a fisherman, and she couldn’t lose him too.

Kari was talking about her own brother a bit and Cecilie smiled again. Evidently he was a troublemaker, which couldn’t be easy for his sister. Ceci herself was the baby of the family, but that had never stopped her from worrying about her brothers, so she was sympathetic. But at least her brothers had never exactly been troublemakers. “He sounds nice,” she told Kari politely. She had no memory of her brother, and therefore, not much else to add. “How old is he now?” she asked, not really wanting to admit that she couldn’t remember him. That wasn’t very nice, was it? But he had to be fairly young if he was still in that troublemaker phase, she reasoned.

As the conversation took a darker turn, Cecilie heard Dómi’s helpful addition to her cryptic comments and had to resist the urge to roll her eyes. Sure, she’d had no better way of saying it but he could have eased into it a little better. And Kari’s reaction didn’t help, but it was a perfectly normal reaction. “Thank you,” she answered the other woman’s comments with a small smile. “Our parents will probably be a bit… scarce, for a few days I think. But I’m sure they’ll be happy to visit with you soon,” she added. Their relationship with the other farmer had to be important to them, and Cecilie didn’t want Kari thinking she should stay away because they were there, or because their parents were mourning.

Luckily, everyone went along with her subject change nicely, and Kari started talking about her and her brother, and her farm. She mentioned her own parents, and Cecilie tried to think back on them. If she recalled correctly, Kari’s mother had left her family shortly before they’d left Skagen. It wasn’t exactly unheard of for couples to get divorced, Cecilie just hadn’t experienced it before that, or realized it was really a thing. She had little memory of Kari’s father but from the way she spoke of him, he wasn’t worth remembering anyway.

She grinned as she listened to the younger woman talk about her farm, how much she loved animals, and enjoyed what she was doing. It was important to enjoy what you did, Cecilie believed. Her parents had always encouraged the three of them to do what they liked, and try new things, and pursue what you were interested in. She knew they’d always been mildly disappointed that none of their children had any interest in farming, but hadn’t put any pressure on them to change their minds. At least, they hadn’t put any pressure on her. She couldn’t say for certain that they’d treated her brothers in the same manner.

We’ve actually already found a cottage in the village. That’s where I found this little girl,” Cecilie added with a smile, petting Bryn, who’d gotten tired of swatting at Bene’s tail and had curled up on the table in front of her. “We’ll be visiting a lot, especially… at first. But we’re living in the village.” When Kari started talking to Dómi about Bene, Cecilie smiled again. She liked people who liked animals. She’d also grown up around animals, obviously. It was hard not to when you grew up on a farm. “He’s very well trained,” she announced to Kari with a nod. Her brother had ensured that.

A fish a plenty-Dómi&Cecilie Empty

“I’ll keep an eye out for him.” He said when Kari mentioned that her brother was blond and usually getting up to trouble. He sounded….interesting. He kind of wanted to meet him and see if he lived up to his reputation as told by his older sister. His own brother had a penchant for mischief from time to time like most younger brothers, but Domi always believed he had the upper hand being older, taller, and stronger. Anytime Elias ever tried to bother him he just kicked his ass. What he wouldn’t give to be able to do that now or even to be bothered by him. He felt a wave of sadness wash over him just thinking about that. There were so many things he wished he could do over knowing what he knew now.

Kari and Ceci talking about his parents snapped him out of his depressing thoughts. He almost wanted to tell Kari she could bring them fish anytime especially with him and Cecilie moving into the village soon. But he didn’t say it. He felt like what Cecilie said about their parents wanting to visit with her soon was sufficient especially since their parents seemed to talk about them so much. They would probably tell her to keep the fish coming despite him being a fisherman now. He knew they’d visit more than they had when they lived in Kattegat, but he probably wouldn’t be able to bring them fish as easily as Kari’s brother could with him just living down the way a bit.

Kari’s reaction to how he chose to tell her that their brother Elias had died made him feel even worse. How exactly did you say that your brother died without making the other person feel terrible for asking? He wasn’t sure how to do that. He shot Ceci a look that said ‘look what you made me do.’ He wasn’t opposed to being the one to deliver the news, but he knew her so well he could only imagine the second Kari left that she’d say ‘why did you have to put it like that.’ He nearly rolled his eyes just thinking about their future conversation. His response would be along the lines of ‘you can’t be annoyed, you knew how I was going to say that.’ She really couldn’t be upset in his opinion. She knew him better than anyone, she had to know how that was going to go when she left him unsupervised to just say things.

He patted Bene on the head for listening to him, scratching him behind his ears just like he liked, making his tail wag faster. Bryn seemed to finally get bored of chasing it after it especially after it sped up. He could honestly say that he wasn’t really paying attention to anything Ceci and Kari were saying. He didn’t even know what they were talking about until Kari said something about how he didn’t have to hold his dog back which brought him back into the conversation he’d checked out of. He raised an eyebrow at her statement of how she liked animals. She just went up 10 points in his eyes. With Bene itching to make a new friend and her being okay with it he decided why not just let his dog have his fun. “Okay then,” he told her with a smile. “But remember you asked for this. He won’t jump on you, just demand you pet him a lot.”

He ducked his head underneath the the table momentarily. “Go on then Ben.” He leaned his head towards Kari, letting his dog know it was okay for him to be friendly. Bene immediately got up and rushed over to where Kari was to require that she love him. His smirked at the scene. Bene was such a lover, he just hoped she didn’t mind when he tried to lick her to death. He may have subconsciously smiled even wider when Cecilie said that his dog was well trained. He was and he was damn proud of it especially after all the work he’d put in. But he wasn’t about to have some dog that jumped all over people and destroyed everything.

He hoped the puppy he picked out from the litter the other day would be just as friendly as Ben. The puppy was still too young to be away from his mother, but in a few weeks he could pick him up and take him home. He figured that since Ceci had gotten a kitten at the very least he should be able to get a puppy since he was going to have to put up with Bryn when she became a cat.

A fish a plenty-Dómi&Cecilie Empty
PostSubject: Re: A fish a plenty-Dómi&Cecilie A fish a plenty-Dómi&Cecilie EmptyMon Mar 05, 2018 5:05 pm

A small smile grew onto her face when she heard Dómi say “I’ll keep an eye out for him.” to her. She liked the idea of that. Someone else who would is a fisherman keeping an eye on him, or at least knew who he was. Kari new that Ari liked to get in trouble and maybe if he knew someone was looking at him, he wouldn't be so bad. However Kari would never ask something like that of the man in front of her. Or any other man if she thought about it. The idea of something keeping an eye on her brother was a nice one too. “He sounds nice,” Kari hears Cecilie say to her next before she asked “How old is he now?” next. Smiling she nods her head at the other women. "He's a good kid, he just gets in a lot of trouble..." she says to them first. "But he's sixteen years old now. Its crazy how big and tall he's getting." she says to them next before another smile grows on her face. Thinking about how much her naughty little brother has changed over the years. How much his personality has grown and developed along with him. He may have had a rough start of things with the horrible parents that they had, but she had done her best to help forum him into the person he was. Kari knew that Ari was loving and caring in his own ways.

The conversation goes in a direction she never saw coming, and Kari feels horrible for asking any questions at all. Their brother was dead, and that was why they were back home. She had so many more questions, however she would never ask them. She just hoped their brother didn't suffer when he passed, and that it happened quickly. Kari wasn't sure what she would do if she lost Ari, or how she would handle herself. However these two siblings in front of her were clearly very strong. She could see they were hurting, but they were strong all the same. “Thank you,” Cecilie says to her first before adding “Our parents will probably be a bit… scarce, for a few days I think. But I’m sure they’ll be happy to visit with you soon,” to her next. Kari could understand that, and she would never over step anything. She would be waiting until they came to her, so that way she knew that they were ready for comfort and being talked to. It still made her feel so badly for being away and absent the last few days.If she had been more readily available maybe she would have been able to do something for them. Maybe she could have brought them over a dinner of some kind, or made Ari help with things around the farm.

At the same time she didn't want to do anything that was going to come off as her pitting them. Kari was well aware that would just make things are worse then they needed to be. Cecilie had changed the subject however, and Kari did her best to push all those thoughts away. They talked about her farm, and then she asked about them too. “We’ve actually already found a cottage in the village. That’s where I found this little girl,” Cecilie says to her in return and Kari smiles at the kitten on the table. "She is a beautiful kitten, her eyes are amazing. I've never seen a kitten with her look before. She looks like she really loves you too." she says to the other women while looking at the cat. "But thats lovely, I'm sure it would be nice to have your own place. I know I like my space sometimes, so I am sure everyone else does...And being in the village has you closer to all the action" she says to her next. “We’ll be visiting a lot, especially… at first. But we’re living in the village.” Cecilie says to her next and Kari nods. She thought that made sense, that they would come and see their family even though they lived far away. That was what Haskell did with his parents too.

Kari is glad she tells Dómi that he doesn't have to hold the dog back anymore, as she can see it helps lighten up the mood. “Okay then,” she hears Dómi say to her first and her smile breaks out into a large grin as she hears him say “But remember you asked for this. He won’t jump on you, just demand you pet him a lot.” to her next. "And I wont mind giving him all the pets" she says to him next just as he lets the dog go. “He’s very well trained, she hears Cecilie say and Kari just smiles at the big dog. Giving the dog she now knew as Ben all her attention. "Hey there Ben! you are just too cute" she tells the dog as she pets him and rubs him behind his ears. The dog was licking her hands, and legs, and really anywhere else that his tongue could reach. It just made Kari let out a little giggle. "You really are very well behaved and trained!" she tells the dog before looking up toward Dómi with a bright smile. "If my little fox Angan ever lets me have a dog, I'll have to have you give me some pointers in training!" she tells him next as the dog licks her more, for more attention. Making her laugh once more at its silly actions.
