PostSubject: But the spies hide out in every corner [Sofie] But the spies hide out in every corner [Sofie] EmptyThu Feb 22, 2018 2:44 am

She shouldn’t have been at all surprised, but it turns out it's rather hard to gather information from complete strangers, when you were in a strange village, and also had three large dog-like animals following you around everywhere, scaring away some of the people who might’ve been more willing to speak to you. However, she was determined to draw as little attention as possible to her relationship to Dómi and Cecilie, not wanting them to get caught up in her situation any more than they already were, and the tavern keeper had been abundantly clear about his thoughts on the animals remaining there without her. Mostly because Aksel spent the whole time whining the one time she’d done that. Which meant they were coming with her whether she liked it or not.

The animals were good for one thing though; If anyone wanted to know what she was doing wandering around the edges of the village, trying to burn the layout permanently into her brain, it was easy enough to point to the beasts and say she was talking them for a walk. So far Yrsa was confident that she had the general idea memorized; Docks, houses, market, great hall, more houses, farms. Skagen was a lot easier to memorize than Kattegat, at least. Not to mention, Gunnvor and Steinar had grown up here. Surely they’d have a decent grasp on the basic layout even without her here. But things could’ve changed in the time since Halfdan took over, so she was determined to do her job well.

She’d spent a good amount of time watching the warriors training. Skagen’s defenses were also going to be important to learn about, and the skill of their fighters seemed the most logical place to start. She was a bit disheartened to recall that Dómi & Elias had been trained here. She’d fought them before, especially Dómi, because he was just as competitive as she was, and she’d lost more times than she cared to admit. But surely all of Skagen’s fighters weren’t as good as he was? Plus, he wasn’t even a viking anymore. She was dying to get in on some of their training sessions, to see for herself just how good they were, and also just because she really missed fighting. She’d only fought once since she’d left Skagerrak, and Dómi had beat her again. But she couldn’t keep pretending to be a thegn when all she wanted to do was jump in and start kicking ass. She’d have to behave like a thegn, which meant pulling punches and letting herself get knocked into the ground; Not something she was looking forward to.

Spying a familiar face, Yrsa slapped a grin on and turned in Sofie’s direction. They’d met briefly in the tavern in Kattegat, and as soon as she’d discovered the younger girl was from Skagen, Yrsa had been determined to befriend her. She felt a bit slimy about the whole thing, to be quite honest. Sofie seemed like a nice person, someone she could probably have been friends with. Spying on her and her family and friends felt pretty low. But she’d left Skagerrak for one reason, and one reason only. To spy on Skagen. So that’s what she was going to do.

Hey, Sofie,” she greeted brightly when she drew closer, the dogs matching her pace. “I didn’t realize you were already back in Skagen, I’d have looked for you sooner.” Looking from the teenager towards the training yard and back, she nodded towards the pairs of fighters practicing, “You said you’re a thegn, right? Are you done for the day or just taking a break? I don’t want to bother you if you’re busy,” she added with a smile, reaching out to scratch Anja behind the ear when she came to a stop beside Yrsa and nudged her hand.

Training had been extra hard this morning. It was like Haskell was trying to kill her, with how much he was going at her. Sofie was sure her entire body was going to be sore for the rest of her life if he kept making her train this way. Sure it was good for her and was making her far stronger, however it was killing her. She was so tired, sore, and maybe a little grumpy. The grumpiness was mostly with herself however. For it was her fault that she was in this situation in the first place. Yes she is being trained and yes she was going to become a great shield maiden someday. Nonetheless there was still a person who was dead and that person although Sofie had hated them, had a family who she was sure was missing her. A family she also knew hated her, and they weren't secretive about it at all. Most of the time Sofie would get dirty looks, something she could deal with she was sure. Being touched however, was not something she was going to deal with for long. So if the brother shoved her again, Sofie knew she would have to go to Haskell about it. For she was not going to let herself get in any more trouble. Sofie would not let any more attention be brought onto her family.

As she was walking out of the training yard and toward home to get changed and relax a bit before going down to the docks, she saw something interesting. Sofie was almost sure it was her friend she has met in Kattegat while she was in the tavern, Yrsa. They had met shortly, but Yrsa was someone fun to talk to. However Sofie was confused as to why the other women was here, and with what appeared to be three dogs? Sofie was just about to make a be-line for her, when she saw that Yrsa and her animals were already coming over toward her. If she was honest, Sofie was excited she was coming her way for a few reasons. The first being that she wanted to know why in the world the other women was here, and he second being she wanted to pet her dogs, well the closer Yrsa got, the more she was seeing that one of them was not like the others. One of the dogs looked to be a wolf, and that made her even more excited. Sure she could be wrong, but she was pretty stud that was what the third animal was. Sofie had never seen one in real life, she had only heard descriptions of them from her father and others who had seen them for themselves.

When Yrsa stopped in front of her Sofie smiled at her and waved to her dogs. “Hey, Sofie,”Yrsa said to her first. "Hey!" she made sure to say to her quickly in return. “I didn’t realize you were already back in Skagen, I’d have looked for you sooner.” she hears the other girl say to her next and that makes her smile more. She was glad that Yrsa liked her enough that she would have wanted to seek her out. Maybe she could take the time to show her friend from Kattegat around her village. Plus then she could figure out why the heck she was here. “You said you’re a thegn, right? Are you done for the day or just taking a break? I don’t want to bother you if you’re busy,” Yrsa says to her next and Sofie smiles more. Happy her friend remembered the things she had told her. "I would have looked for you as well, if I had known you were coming here!" Sofie says to her first. "Yes I'm a Thegn for now, and I'm done for the day.So no need to worry about messing with my training!" she says to her next.

Looking down toward the animals at her feet, Sofie smiled at them. "Your dogs are so beautiful. I had no idea you had any, I would have bugged you to see them while I was in Kattegat." she says to her with a playful smirk. "Plus that one is a wolf right? That is so amazing. Ive never seen one before in real life, only in my imagination. My father had seen one once, and described it to me." she makes sure to explain to her.Sofie had been sure there was only one village that had a lot of wolves, but that didn't mean other places didn't have them. Besides, Yrsa was from Kattegt, she had said so herself. "So what brings you here? Not that Im not happy to see you again." Sofie asks Yrsa finally. Never one to beat around the bush.

The younger girl greeted her warmly and Yrsa was happy to see it. They hadn’t had a lot of time to get to know each other in Kattegat, and the shieldmaiden hadn’t wanted to come off as too interested, and unnecessarily prick her curiosity. But it seemed she’d made a positive impression at least, which was what she’d been hoping for. She nodded happily when Sofie said was done for the day. That made this easier, that was certain.

Oh, great! I wouldn’t want to interrupt,” she answered, nearly repeating herself, but kept the bright smile in place. “And I wasn’t actually planning on coming here, to be honest. But I’ve always wanted to travel and a few of my friends were coming, so I decided to join them,” she told Sofie with a shrug, before lowering her voice and adding, “Slightly poor timing on my part, it turns out. They’re from here, and said they were coming back, and I invited myself along before I’d learned the reason they were coming was a bit tragic.” She didn’t want to come off as sharing too much too quickly, but also was hoping that by adding the bit about it being tragic, Sofie would just let the whole ‘why are you here?’ thing go fairly quickly.

When the conversation turned to her dogs, her smile grew even bigger. “I wish I’d known you were an animal lover, I would have introduced you then!” She took turns pointing towards each of the animals, “This is Aksel, Anja, and Aleksia.” She looked back to Sofie with a grin. “Aksel’s a whiner, and yeah, Anja’s a wolf. I found them all when they were just a few months old, and decided to keep them.” While that was essentially the truth, she was definitely implying she found them together at the same time, and not months apart, which was what had actually happened.

Looking around at the people and buildings nearby for a moment, Yrsa then turned her attention back to the thegn in front of her. “Anything fun to do around here? Or anyone interesting to meet?” Honestly, she’d really love to just hang out with Sofie cause she seemed like a lot of fun and this whole balancing act she needed to perform was going to keep her on her toes. She had to remember she was here for a reason, while also being careful not to let anyone figure that out. It was going to take a bit of skill, that was certain.

But the spies hide out in every corner [Sofie] Empty
PostSubject: Re: But the spies hide out in every corner [Sofie] But the spies hide out in every corner [Sofie] EmptyFri Feb 23, 2018 3:10 am

The idea that someone she met in Kattegat was here was exciting and confusing. Sofie had many questions for Yrsa, but she knew she couldn't just unload all of them on her right away. That would be really rude, and Sofie didn't want to come off rude to her friend while she was here visiting her village. “Oh, great! I wouldn’t want to interrupt,” Yrsa says to her first after she tells her that she had finished her training for the day. It makes Sofie smile that she seems to be very considerate about others and the things going on in their lives. “And I wasn’t actually planning on coming here, to be honest. But I’ve always wanted to travel and a few of my friends were coming, so I decided to join them,” Yrsa says to her next, and that makes sense to an extent. So she was here with friends, but what friends were here. Sofie hadn't seen anyone else around the village, but she also hadn't seen Yrsa too. “Slightly poor timing on my part, it turns out. They’re from here, and said they were coming back, and I invited myself along before I’d learned the reason they were coming was a bit tragic.” Yrsa says to her next and Sofie nods her head. That made more sense to her. She knew the people that Yrsa was talking about. Dómi was friends with her sister, and Cecilie was his little sister.

Nodding her head again Sofie says "It was a very sad things indeed. I'm glad they have a friend here with them. Plus it gives us time to get to know each other." she says to Yrsa in return. Dropping the topic of why she was here, to take a look at the dogs. The idea of seeing a real wolf like this was so exciting. For she was sure she would have never seen a real one in her life. “I wish I’d known you were an animal lover, I would have introduced you then!” Yrsa says to her next and Sofie smiles and nods. "Animals are the best." she says just before Yrsa says “This is Aksel, Anja, and Aleksia.” to her. Sofie waves at the dogs again after hearing their names. She thought that they were great names for the dogs in front of her. “Aksel’s a whiner, and yeah, Anja’s a wolf. I found them all when they were just a few months old, and decided to keep them.” Yrsa says and Sofie smiles again.

Still looking at the dogs she says "Thats so cool that you found them all together. Pretty crazy a wolf would be with dogs, but clearly it didn't have anyone else." Sofie says to Yrsa next before looking back up to the women. Yrsa looks around for a moment and Sofie smiles when she hears her speak again. “Anything fun to do around here? Or anyone interesting to meet?”  Yrsa says to her and Sofie thinks for a moment. "The cliffs and the cave are really beautiful to see, but they take a while to get to." she says to Yrsa first. "Our shoreline is beautiful in the spring, but its very cold right now. The Tavern is a lot of fun too." Sofie says to her next before thinking for another moment. "I don't talk to many people anymore. I mostly spend time with my Boyfriend Aleinn and my sisters. I could maybe introduce you to Freyja." she says to her next."But there are some cool people, Henrik, Hakon, and Haskell were the men that were with me in Kattegat. They are fun to be around too. Vern is cool too, he's a farmer." sofie says to her next before giving a smile.
