| It had been far to long since she got to really sit down and relax with her friend Yrsa. For the two of them to sit and just talk about everything and everything that had been going on in their lives. Sure Yrsa stopped by to see her the other day and let her know that she was home and safe. Something Inkeri was very grateful about, as she had been very worried about what was going on with her dear friend while she was gone. Yrsa had not told her everything, but Inkeri knew that she had gone away for a mission. So the longer her best friend was away, the more and more she would worry about her. She knew that Yrsa was strong and that she could handle her own against a lot of things, but with so little information as to what her friend was doing and things like that, Ikneri thought it was perfectly normal that she had worried about her. Besides the last person Inkeri loved and cared about went away for something, they never came back. They had gone missing, and she still had no idea what happen to him. She often thought about her father and worried about things like that. However when Yrsa had come to see her she had been busy, and their visit had been short. She had been woking on a project for a client. One that had to be done by the end of that day. So as much as she wanted to just tell he client she needed another day, she also knew that would give her a bad name. Inkeri needs people to love her work, and want to keep coming back. If she made people wait a long time for things, or if she was late on work she promised to have done by a certain time, she was never going to do well as a carpenter. So she had cut things short, and promised as soon as she was free she would make her way over to her best friends house to catch up. So it was now a little less then a week later, and she was finally free from all the things that she had been committed to. Inkeri had made sure that Ase was going to be good, and that she didn't need any help before she left the house and made her way around the town. First she had gone to the tavern to go and buy some Ale for the two of them to share and drink together. Then she went to the market place to get some different types of snacks to go with the things she had already packed together from the farm. After that she went and got some scraps for Yrsa's many, many animals. Finally Inkeri walked the short walk from the market place to Yrsa's house. Knocking on the door, she smiled when she heard all the dogs moving around on the other side. That meant that her friend was at home and she wasn't going to have to go looking for her. "OH YRSA" she shouted at the door with a large smile on her face before it opened up. "You better not be busy, because I spent a lot of time and money so I could come spend time with you." she tells her before letting out a laugh. "Besides, lets be real. I'm the most important person in your life anyway." she tells her next before sassily throwing her hair over her shoulder and smirking at her friend. "So if anyone else is here, they can go home now. The real person you wanted to see is here." she adds in last with another laugh. |

| Life was quickly returning to normal for Yrsa, which seemed to include regular visits from her parents. She didn’t mind too much when her father came to visit, but her mother was just as annoying as always. She knew, deep deep down, that her mother had her best interests at heart, but that didn’t stop her from finding the older woman incredibly frustrating. She’d told Garth back during the Harvest Feast in Kattegat that she’d been worried her mother might be trying to talk her father into arranging a marriage. Garth had assured her that it would never happen, and Yrsa had no intention of going through with it even if it did, but she still wouldn’t put it past her meddling parent.
And that meddling parent was sitting at her table at the moment, trying to give Yrsa the run down of what she’d missed while she’d been in Kattegat. She’d already heard most of the important bits from her friends, but her mother seemed to be far more focused on which men were still single and which were most likely to need a wife. Yrsa had already rolled her eyes enough to give her a headache, but the older woman just wasn’t letting it go.
“Mother, if I promise to take any proposal I receive very seriously, and honestly consider them, will you leave me alone about it?” she asked, beyond tired of this ridiculous conversation. Hopefully that would shut her mother up once and for all. And as Yrsa wasn’t anticipating getting any proposals, because the men she knew thought she was far from ideal wife material, she didn’t think making that promise would cause her too many problems. As long as her mother didn’t start hounding all the single men in Skagerrak and inviting them over for dinner, she’d probably be perfectly safe.
Reluctantly, her mother agreed, and Yrsa was happy to begin ushering her out of her house. As soon as they’d both stood up, there was a knock at the door, and Yrsa grinned at the voice that came from the other side. She didn’t miss her mother rolling her eyes and sighing when she also realized who was coming for a visit. She wasn’t really fond of Inkeri, who was both Yrsa’s best friend, and a single, independent adult woman. She’d called her a ‘bad influence’ as if Inkeri was encouraging Yrsa to remain single forever. That wasn’t the case at all. Inkeri actually wanted to do that whole love and marriage and babies thing, while Yrsa viewed marriage as a way for someone to control her. No thanks.
Opening the door and grinning at Inkeri, Yrsa hushed the dogs quickly before answering her friend. “I’m not busy, my mother was just leaving, right?” she directed the end of her statement to her mother, who nodded reluctantly. “Good, because apparently I’ve got a busy evening planned,” she finished, eyeing the basket her friend had with her.
Closing the door once Inkeri was inside, and her mother was gone, Yrsa sighed dramatically and hugged her friend quickly. “Thank you! I swear I thought she’d never leave. I bet you can’t figure out what we were talking about? I’ll give you three guesses,” she told the blonde, rolling her eyes. “But what did you bring? You didn’t have to bring anything, you know?”
Taking a seat at the table, she grinned up at the blonde, “Are we talking shit? Who are we talking shit about first?” Because that was obviously the most important thing to discuss when you haven’t seen your best friend for a couple months. |

| The moment the door opened and Inkeri saw that someone else was in the house with Yrsa, she was already mentally kicking herself. Sure she wouldn't normally care if she offended someone else. However the person in the house with her best friend was someone she vey much wished liked her. It was Yrsa's mother, who happened to have the same name as herself. Inkeri knew that Yrsa's mother was not overly found of her and Yrsa's single lifestyle. She knew that the other women wanted both Yrsa and herself to be married already and with children. What she didn't know apparently, was that Inkeri very much wanted the same things. She wanted to be married and with children as well. She just hadn't had anyone ask for her yet, even if she wasn't sure why not. Inkeri knew she wasn't ugly, and actually very far from it. “I’m not busy, my mother was just leaving, right?” Yrsa said to her first, and she could tell that her mother was annoyed when she nodded her head in return. “Good, because apparently I’ve got a busy evening planned,” Yrsa said next and Inkeri smiled and nodded her head at her best friend. Happy that Yrsa was agreeing to spending the evening with her. It wouldn't have been as much fun if she had to have forced her to do so. As soon as Yras's mother left, Inkeri made her way inside the house and greeted the three fluffy animals. Before she could move farther into the house, Yrsa was hugging her and saying “Thank you! I swear I thought she’d never leave. I bet you can’t figure out what we were talking about? I’ll give you three guesses,” to her. Her best friends words make her laugh. She knew what her mother was talking to her about. It was the same thing Yras's mother was always bugging her about. That she needed to find a man and get married. Inkeri figured that her mother would have given up by now. For what she was doing clearly wasn't working. It as simply making Yrsa get more and more annoyed with her. “But what did you bring? You didn’t have to bring anything, you know?” Yrsa says to her next and she lets out yet another laugh. "I hope she gets the hint that bugging you about it isn't helping." she says to her friend first before adding "And I have a whole basket of treats for us, and I know I didn't have to. I wanted to, and besides you have been gone for a while. So I figured you didn't have tons of stuff here." she says to her next. Her friend walks into the house even farther and sits down at the kitchen table. Smiling Inkeri makes her way over and sets the basket down before reaching inside an pulling out the Ale and setting it down. “Are we talking shit? Who are we talking shit about first? Yrsa says and Inkeri just laughs so hard and nods her head quickly. "First I'm going to pour us some of this to drink and give the puppies something to snack on, and then we can talk shit." she says to her before walking over and getting some cups. She had been t Yrsa's new place enough that she knew where things were. Inkeri quickly filled up both cups and pushed one toward her friend before pulling out the bones with scrap meat still on it of the pups. "Eat it slowly so me and your mommy have time to talk!" she says to the dogs with a giggle before handing them the treats and making her way back over to the table. She then proceeds to pull out a loaf of bread, cheeses, and some salted dried meat for them to snack on before she sits down at the table herself. "First things first, your trip. I want details! Then I can tell you the really stupid thing I did while you were gone. Then we can talk all the shit!" Inkeri tells her before taking a sip of her ale. |

| Rolling her eyes at Inkeri’s comment about how Yrsa’s mother should leave her alone, the shield maiden just shrugged. “We can hope, but I’m not optimistic. I promised to ‘seriously consider’ any new proposals I get, but the joke’s on her,” she told the blonde with a grin.
Yrsa occasionally felt a bit bad about complaining to Inkeri about this, and about her parents in general. She still had both of her parents, while her friend did not. And Yrsa knew Inkeri would love to find a nice man and settle down and have a bunch of babies, but just hadn’t found the ‘right one’ yet. While Yrsa had never had much interest in tying herself to someone. It sounded suffocating. And having babies would get in the way of her training, which didn’t appeal to her at all.
Looking over the basket of treats Inkeri had brought, Yrsa smiled at her friend. “Well thank you, that was very thoughtful,” she told her once they were at the table. She’d missed Inkeri while she’d been away. While Yrsa had no trouble talking to her brother, it wasn’t the same as talking to your best friend. They had a lot of time to make up for. She was happy to note that they would in fact be talking shit. It had been way too long since she’d had the opportunity. Watching Inkeri interacting with the pups made her smile, and she took a sip from the cup the blonde had poured for her.
“Me first? Oh, okay,” she answered and took a moment to consider her time away. She’d told her friend the nature of her trip before she’d even left Skagerrak so it wasn’t like she had to reveal that secret suddenly. “Well, I spent a lot of time in Kattegat with Garth, which was nice. I spent every night in the tavern, and wore a dress the whole time, and just bought rounds of ale for any strangers that wandered in, trying to make friends, and seem like a simple girl, hanging on every word of the ‘handsome stranger’ who wanted to tell her where he was from.” She batted her lashes rapidly at Inkeri and made a kissing face.
“It was pretty boring to be honest,” she admitted finally. “Not many people from Skagen, and unfortunately, I was giving off a very specific impression, but anytime anyone got too handsy, Anja would start to growl and then the other two would start to growl and they’d back off without me having to prove I could take care of it myself.” It had all been very convenient, if she was being honest. She couldn’t pretend to be some helpless, village girl if she started breaking hands and jaws every time someone grabbed her ass.
“And then I went to Skagen with Cecilie & Dómi, and managed to get a good look at the village, and meet a few people and ask a few questions,” she continued with a shrug. Yrsa just hoped she’d gotten the kind of information Gunnvor had been looking for. The fact that Cecilie and Dómi lived there now meant she could return a few times if she needed to, to try to get more information and attempt to insert herself into the village a bit more, but she wasn’t certain that would be necessary. “And then I came home.”
Taking another sip from her cup, she tilted her head towards Inkeri and sent her a smirk. “So, what stupid thing did you do?” she asked, wanting all the horrible details. |

| She couldn't help but smile and laugh when she heard her best friend say “We can hope, but I’m not optimistic. I promised to ‘seriously consider’ any new proposals I get, but the joke’s on her,” about her mother still bugging her about getting married. Inkeri was sure her friend was right. It was not a topic her mother was just going to give up on easily. "You are right, I bet she wont give up as well. I was just trying to be supportive." she says to her with a wink and then a giggle. Yrsa went on to say “Well thank you, that was very thoughtful,” to her next when she finished saying why she brought so much stuff. Inkeri of course just smiled at her and nodded her head. "I know I am the best aren't I?" she said with a smirk and then rolled her eyes at her own antics. She had missed her friend a lot, and missed being able to act the way she wanted to without worrying about being judged. Yrsa knew she was a sassy little bitch sometimes, but she also knew that most of the time she was joking as well. So she was happy to be here and even happier to be able to catch up with her soon too. When she was done setting everything up and giving the dogs their treats she told Yrsa she had to go first. Because she wanted to hear all about her secret spy work the she was not suppose to know about. Inkeri had always wanted to go somewhere else and to visit other places, but she never had the opportunity. She was always talking care of someone or something, and she just hasn't been able to leave her little village yet. “Me first? Oh, okay,” she heard Yrsa say first and she just nodded her head as she waited to hear what her friend was going to say. “Well, I spent a lot of time in Kattegat with Garth, which was nice. I spent every night in the tavern, and wore a dress the whole time, and just bought rounds of ale for any strangers that wandered in, trying to make friends, and seem like a simple girl, hanging on every word of the ‘handsome stranger’ who wanted to tell her where he was from.” she heard her friend say first and Inkeri was giggling at the faces Yrsa was making at her next. Gods she had missed her friend so much, and her silly ways. "Oh lord, I would pay to see you in dresses longer then a day!" she commented quickly before Yrsa went on. Her friend said “It was pretty boring to be honest,” to her next and Inkeri was sure she wouldn't have thought so. Being in a new place, but she understood what her friend meant. “Not many people from Skagen, and unfortunately, I was giving off a very specific impression, but anytime anyone got too handsy, Anja would start to growl and then the other two would start to growl and they’d back off without me having to prove I could take care of it myself.” was what her friend said to her next and she nodded her head. She was glad for Yrsa's animals, and that they kept her safe. She would just die if something happened to her friend. She knew what it was like to have to sleep with someone against her will, or someone taking advantage of her. She never wanted her best friend to know that kind of feeling as well. “And then I went to Skagen with Cecilie & Dómi, and managed to get a good look at the village, and meet a few people and ask a few questions,” Yrsa told her next and she smiled more. Yrsa had told her about these friends before, and she had always wanted to meet the someday. Her friends whole trip sounded so interesting, but she was just glad she was home and that she came home safely. “And then I came home.” Yrsa ended with and Inkeri smiled. "Thank the gods for that, I missed you so much." she told her before her friend spoke once more “So, what stupid thing did you do?” Yrsa asked her. Rolling her eyes at her she took a deep drink of her ale, emptying it before setting it down on the table and pouring herself some more. "I got so drunk with Vali I let him hurt my feelings and then told him my feelings." she tells her before shaking her head and taking another drink. "I was upset about my dad and decided it would be smart to go have a drink because you were gone and I can very well talk to Ase about this stuff" she says to her next. "So I went drinking, and while I was there I saw Vali and went over to bicker with him...you know how much I like to do that" she says to her as she waves her arms around and talks animatedly. "So I did that, and then I just kept drinking and drinking, ended up drinking to much and something he said hurt my feelings! and because I was drunk I told him that he hurt my feelings like a loser." she says to her next. Rubbing her hands over her face she shakes her head before going on. " Then I told him all my feelings and that I didn't hate him among a lot of other things...He probably thinks I like him now...not that he's ugly and unlikeable....I just am pretty sure he hates me." she says to her next before taking another drink. "If he does its my own fault anyways, but I don't like the idea of him hating him...not when I don't hate him..." she say to her next before giving her a small smile. "So there, thats the stupid thing I did while you were gone and I was all alone." she says to her last. |
