If I had a heart I could love you ,
If I had a voice I would sing.

He was biting his own lip so hard he felt the blood on his tongue while he looked at his brother with so much rage in his eyes Sigurd started to overthink his own moves. Ivar wasn’t easy to handle, he never would be. Kattegat feared the youngest Ragnarsson and they had a reason. He killed already someone when he was hardly a boy, he would do it again anytime if something challenged his patience … with he didn’t had. ‘Think very good brother.’ He spitted out, trying to provoke Sigurd into the wrong decision. ‘Stop it, the both of you.’ Ubbe came in between. Ivar smiled, amused when he looked how Sigurd turned around and walked away. ‘Run along brother, like the dog you are.’ ‘Ivar, stop it.’ Ubbe reacted. Ivar looked up to his elder brother before grunting, pulling his body down from the seat without touching his ale any further.

He crawled out, first thing, looking for Sigurd again. He wasn’t done with his brother yet but just as he thought that slithering snake got away. He just laid there for a minute, pushed up on his arms while he let his freezing blue eyes travel over all the people that walked fort and back between their jobs, the one even uglier than the other. Amusement, or at least, that was what he called looking towards other their misery. He loved to see fight other battle he knew they couldn’t win, at least he forget his own misery for a while. After looking for about a few minutes he dragged his body from the stairs, crawling into the streets. People didn’t watch to him, they feared him and walked a little faster, or got out of the way. That was a huge compliment for Ivar, it brought that spoiled smirk on his face while he crawled into the blacksmith, looking to one of the instruments to sharpen his weapons. He was here a lot, knowing there was a new blacksmith he was tempting to challenge everybody coming in here just to prove a point. He pulled his cripple body up to a seat, looking around into the empty workplace, also good. He pulled out his axe from his belt and laid it against the metal before turning the wooden wheel, starting to sharpening his axe, sharpening the future dead that would carve his body with victory. Something changed in his blue eyes, some darkness while he got sucked into the magnificent sound of a axe that got sharpened, what he didn’t want to do with that instrument…

OPEN (Warning, he isn't a nice one) ;-)

She was just passing the streets of Kattegat with basket of apples, because she had to carry them to the manor for the royal family. But she did this job in her free time, so she could take her time doing it. She had pretty good mood, since she liked meeting new people, which she could without big problems do in the streets. She was smilling at basically everyone. Some people were smilling back, some were ignoring her, because she was just a slave. But that did not made her angry. She understood them. Who would want to be friend with a slave. While she was secretly giving an apple to one young girl, she heard noise, that she did not like, somewhere in the blacksmith. It took her interest. She decided to examine it,so she went to blacksmith with smile on her face and basjet in her hands, since she wanted to know, what produced that noise. As soon as she saw the person in the blacksmith, she knew, that it was probably not the best idea to go here. There was a boy, whom she recognized rightaway as well known Ivar Boneless. She heard lot of things about him. She heard, that he is a monster from few people. Other didn´t want to talk about him. She was curious about him, but she knew, that she should fear him too. But she decided not to judge people she doesn´t know. She hesitated for a second, if she should speak to him, but since she stood right next to blacksmiths, there was not big chance, that he had not seen her coming. She decided wait and if he would not talk to her, she would just leave him alone.

If I had a heart I could love you ,
If I had a voice I would sing.

It was a kind of mental release, doing something as satisficing like this, sharpening his weapons. In that way he could focus … or rather thing about the ways he could kill his brother. He turned the blade of his axe, pushing his left side against the metal while he turned the wheel back around. And every time he turned that wheel around his blue eyes got up, looking around in whatever this blacksmith held … nothing for the moment. There was nobody here or nobody wanting to get here. The sight of that cripple was often enough, nobody looked at him, nobody cared about him and nobody talked to him. It was just Ivar and his axe, what cause a compelling grin on his face when he saw the sharpening edges of that blade getting more sharper every turn from that wheel.

After a while he felt something, something in his back, the feeling of being watched from behind. Ivar straighten his back, stroking his fingers over the axe before he looked over his shoulder towards the doorway. Their stood a blond slave girl, a naive one by the looks of it. And she was staring to him, not to whatever he was doing but to him, the boneless cripple on that crutch. ‘If you want to keep your eyes I suggest you just walk on.’ He warned her, turning his back back to her and laying his axe back against the wheel. It was a soft warning, and soft warning where with Ivar so much dangerous than the ones he yelled in. If she was looking to him because he was a cripple, because she was intrigued or just because she knew his reputation and name, he really didn’t care. Moody as he was he rather didn’t have any company around him and all certain not from some slave girl who just thought that staring was impropriate.

She was just standing there, waiting, whether he saw her or not. Unfortunately he saw her. She just didn´t wanted any trouble. She didn´t want to look like she is staring at him, so she just gave look to the ground and then she looked at him again. ‘If you want to keep your eyes I suggest you just walk on.’ When he turned to her, the first thing she noticed were his deep blue eyes. She expected him to say something like that, so she wasn´t shocked. After all, she had just a little hope, that rumors are just rumors and are not true. But they always were right in the end and this just proved her thoughts. She quickly bowed to him with politeness. I´m sorry. She looked at him, seeing him irriteted by her. She hoped, that she won´t have problems because of that. Then she decided to try to make her position better so she just said, If you would need something, I am at your service. She said it in humble tone looking into his eyes. She was hoping, that she would not look as a bad servant after what she just said. She turned around and started to walk away from him slowly, since she had no reason to hurry with the basket full of apples still in her hands, hoping that he won´t stop her.

She kept staring, even after his threat. Would he be ever truly nice, no, probably not. There weren’t much people nice for him so why should he be nice for others? His father tried to kill him when he wasn’t more than a newborn. His brother hated him for all the attention that he got. The people talked about the cripple, the boneless. Kids didn’t let him play along when he was younger … nobody did something nice, it made him bitter. So he couldn’t bare it, people watching him, causing him to snap right in two when they looked just too long, probably to those cripple skinny legs of him. It was in that way quite obvious and she didn’t get it because she stayed there when all he wanted was to be alone. He used this axe already once before, he didn’t need much to use it again in some way.

She excused her behavior, still looking. Putting some more words after it. He stopped the wheel and turned back to her. ‘I needed you to walk away when I said so.’ He pointed towards the street. She wanted to go now, he saw it but why would he do that if he just could punish her for staring in the first place. ‘Tsss,’ he hissed, getting her attention right back. ‘Because you are so foolish you can stay.’ His head tilted to the left while he pointed his axe her way in a threating way. ‘And bring me an apple while you’re at it girl.’ He didn’t say it friendly. She should kept walking when she had the change, now she was chained onto the monster some people called him to be. He had that spoiled amusement on his lips, if she wasn’t afraid already, he would give her a first impression to not soon forget.

She knew somewhere inside, that he would not let her go away. She was just hoping, that she is wrong with him. ‘I needed you to walk away when I said so.’ She stopped rightaway, expecting that. She was worried, because she didn´t know, what she can expect from him.‘Tsss,’he said, when she turned around, as he wanted her to. She didn´t wanted to show him fear or worries, just respect, so he would not find her as his new toy. She heard lot of things about him and playing with slaves was amongst them. ‘Because you are so foolish you can stay.’ She just took the words, as he said it and nodded at him politely. She wasn´t angry, because he said she is foolish, because she knew, he is just trying to make her fear and hate him. And besides she knew, that he is wrong. She started walking back to place she stood before. ‘And bring me an apple while you’re at it girl.’ She knew he wants to do something, because he didn´t look like the type of man, that would ask someone to do something for him. At least not now. But she had to obey him. She came to him with the basket in her hands and politely offered it to him, so he could take an apple from it. Here. She tried to act normal, but there were sparks of worries and fear in her eyes. That was the only part of her body she could not control at that moment.

Nah, who would he be to let her go so easily. She did this to her own and that was something he would kick in that stupid little head of her until she would go home cursing her dumb actions from before. He didn’t like to be watched, he was the one who mostly watched. He was the one who lurked from behind the corners edges from a stone, the corners of a wooden shed; Ivar was everywhere where you didn’t expect him to be. That was the reputation he crawled around with, the cripple that wasn’t fast enough but still knew everything there was to know about this growing village. He didn’t had to look to her to know she wasn’t happy with his command towards her that she needed to stay. Who would be? He was sharpening an axe, what made him more bloodthirsty than usual. Just looking at the blade and imagining where things could lead with that was enough to spark that inner rage of him again. And she, the poor silly girl, was around him, in an empty blacksmith with nobody to protect her.

It took her a little while before she walked in with the basket of apples. In that time he had already turned back to his fine piece of art. He bowed it little over the blade, blowing his breath over it before softly stroking his fingers over the surface without getting to the sharp edge. “Here.” She offered him the basket. Ivar turned his head and looked up to her, frowned, mocking her with just that face expressions of her. ‘Here who?’ He asked her impatient. He wasn’t some other slave, or the best a villager or blacksmith for that matter. He was the prince of Kattegat and he order that he was respected and feared as such. ‘How long have you been a slave?’ He asked, taking one of the apples out of the basket, turning it around between his fingers. ‘Because it looks like you have still a lot to learn.’ He looked up to her without moving his head. He looked at her from underneath his eyelashes, warning almost. Yes, she needed to learn and he wasn’t that good a teacher in it. Because who didn’t wanted to listen, had to feel.

She was holding basket and waiting for him to choose the apple he wanted. The look that he gave her told her, that this didn´t look good for her. ‘Here who?’ She looked at him quickly, cursing her previous actions. She knew, that she won´t escape him so easily. His imitaion of her face was pretty good. She knew, that she probably looked just like that. So she wasn´t angry, she just repaired her face and said in more calm and confident voice. Here you, Ivar, the princ of the Kattegat. She said and looked at him, hoping, that he would be good with it, but knowing he won´t. ‘How long have you been a slave? When he asked she knew, that this question probably ment problem. Few weeks, Ivar, the prince of Kattegat. She had to smile somewhere inside, but she hid it perfectly. When he finally chose an apple, she took step back, predicting, that he wanted to have space around him. ‘Because it looks like you have still a lot to learn.’ She thought the same. So she just weakly nodded at him. Of course, Ivar, the prince of Kattegat. I will learn. She looked at him, expecting totally everything from him. She had problems to presuppose his next move, which irritated her in some way.

He hated it, when he wasn’t seen for who he was. Not because of his legs that didn’t function that everybody couldn’t see him as a prince. And it was Ivar, he loved to be named for who he was, a son of Ragnar. So she serving him an apple like he was a common villager just didn’t work. And she was working already on his nerves, he could better make it count then. It didn’t took her long to realize her mistake and he just loved the reaction on her face afterwards. Ivar, Prince of Kattegat … it sounded so much better. He took the apple and turned it around in his hand, grinning because how fast he could turn the things around. ‘Better.’ He almost petted her like a filthy dog before he placed his teeth in the apple, taking a firm bite. While chewing he looked down to the apple, nodding because of his fine taste.

When she answered his question she did it with the same obedience and kind title as he learned her to. Few weeks … and she still knew this little, was she stupid maybe? But she admitted it herself, she had a lot to learn, for example that he hardly was pleased with something so easily. He took another bite of the apple, the juice he stroke from his lips, studying her small build, her attitude … how much there was left of it. ‘For who do you work?’ He asked, knowing that would give him a lot of answered. He could challenge a lot of people around him by taking away what was theirs. He turned his axe fort and back in his wrist, looking to the fine edges of it, knowing he wanted to use it some way, like he used it years ago with that little boy. The thought made him smirk before he putted the apple between his teeth and started sharpening the axe again. Not paying any attention to her or the fact he carried that basket with apples, what couldn’t be that light.

She had no problems to call him with his title, after all she was not in position to have problem. So she just obeyed him and tried to make him feel comfortable in her company. She just felt like she is part of some bad play. Fortunately, her acting skills were good. She has never met someone like him. He was acting so tough and confident, but she knew from her experiences, that there are only two things, that would make him force other people to call him with his title. First, he is just pain in the ass. Second theory is, that he is not sure about himself, so he wants other people to reassure him about his position and power, that comes with it. He just wanted to be respected and feared because of it. But for her, his behaviour had different effect. She wanted to understand him, because he felt so mysterious to her. She was used to read people, but he was a big mystery. ‘For who do you work?’ She was suprised, he doesn´t know. She thought he knows everything. She was glad, that she has nothing to be ashamed for, so she just smiled, with little sparks in her eyes. I work for your family, which means you now, Ivar the prince of Kattegat. She said to make him happy, but also to see, how cruel he really is. She was just carrying basket full of apples, her hands were aching, but she wanted to look tough, so she was acting like she is just fine. He wouldn´t care after all.
