Freyja had had a few errands to run, which took her to one of the neighborhoods she didn’t often visit. Most of them were for her mother, which was a bit odd to the blonde, considering this was literally the whole point of Visna being their mother’s apprentice, but she wasn’t going to complain. Outloud, at least.

She was on her way back to her mother’s shop when she heard someone yelling and stopped to listen. Sighing, Freyja was fairly certain she knew who it was doing the yelling and turned to face Ylva’s house. When the young woman exited the house Freyja was staring at, she approached her immediately.

Ylva, it’s Freyja. Do you need some help?” she asked, taking the younger girl’s elbow gently, hoping to make it a bit easier for them both to get away from the foul bastard she called a father. In no time at all, Freyja noticed the bruises on the Ylva’s arm and was absolutely seething with rage. How her own father could treat her like this, Freyja simply couldn’t comprehend. And she was blind! What kind of person assaulted a blind teenage girl? A piece of shit, that’s what.

Are you okay?” She added softly, trying to calm down, but getting worked up again every time she noticed another bruise on Ylva. She knew she should be more adult and mature about all of this, but after trying to contain herself long enough to make sure Ylva wasn’t hurt and in need of any immediate attention, she couldn’t bite her tongue any longer. “Do you want me to beat the shit out of him for you?” She knew Ylva couldn’t see her face but she was completely serious, and if the girl in front of her said yes, like Freyja not-so-secretly hoped she would, she’d head into that house right now.

PostSubject: Re: You ain't never had a friend like me [Ylva] You ain't never had a friend like me [Ylva] EmptySat Dec 02, 2017 2:16 am

The day had started out much like any other day had since she got home from being with Ivar. She would practice healing in secret in her room before the rest of the house woke up. Spending her time getting use to the different smells of different flowers, plants and mushrooms. Ylva was teaching herself the texture of what they were like when mixed together, and using the things she made on herself and the injuries her father inflicted it onto her. She was pretty proud of herself and how well she was doing at it, but she wished she didn't have to do it in such secret. That her father would let her learn something, and stop shoving the idea that she needed to get married down her throat. She wanted to get stronger, and to become something like she promised Ivar she would do. So that he could be more proud of being friends with a person like her. So that when she did go back, he would maybe want to something more then friends, like she kind of wanted herself.

She had just finished hiding her things away when she heard her father come in. It was little later in the day and she could small the ale coming off him from her spot already. That meant whatever punishment she was going to get was going to be worse. At least it would give her something else to practice on she guessed. "What are you doing home, I thought you went out everyday. You have been home a lot more. What are you doing in here?" he yelled at her all at once. Ylva just kept quite. No mater what she said he was going to hurt her anyways, so it really didn't matter now did it? Halvor grabbed onto her arms, places that were already bruised from his actions before, and started shaking her and yelling at her. She tried to just tune him out. What he said didn't matter much anyways. It was all much of the same, him saying he couldn't wait until she was gone and married.

When he was done she simply made a b-line for the door. Leaving as fast as possible. It was what he wanted her to do in the first place. As soon as she was outside, she felt a hand on her arm. It would have worried her if it wasn't for the fact that she knew it wasn't her father, more like a females hand.“Ylva, it’s Freyja. Do you need some help?” it was Freyja, she knew her voice from around the village and speaking to her a few times before. Ylva went to open her mouth but heard Freyja speak again. “Are you okay?” at which Ylva just laughed. This was the first time anyone had asked something like that just after she was yelled at or punished. "I am fine, he didn't hurt me to badly today." was her answer to Freyja. “Do you want me to beat the shit out of him for you?” Ylva heard her ask next, and to be honest she was shocked. What kind of question was that? She wanted her father dead, of course she wanted someone to beat the shit out of him."More than anything" was all she said back to her."I wish he was dead most days, so beating him up would be one step closer to that." Ylva said next.

PostSubject: Re: You ain't never had a friend like me [Ylva] You ain't never had a friend like me [Ylva] EmptySat Dec 02, 2017 2:39 am

Freyja had to make a conscious effort not to clench her fists, as one of them was currently holding onto Ylva’s elbow. Her ‘not too badly today’ reply was making the blonde absolutely murderous. No one should have to live like this, especially someone who was so dependent on their attacker.

Despite these thoughts, when Ylva actually said yes, Freyja had to admit she was a tiny bit surprised. She’d expected a bit of an argument, even if only because it was ‘expected’ of the teenager. For her, Ylva immediately accepting the offer only made her even more furious. After making sure the young woman was a fairly safe distance from the house, Freyja walked back to the front door and opened it quietly.

She’d seen Halvor before, she knew he was quite a bit larger than she was. But, he was old, he was slow, and if the strong smell of ale in the house was any indication, he was drunk. Which was perfectly fine with her. Drunk, old and slow meant sloppy, and she could work with that. It may have been a while since she’d been in a real fight, but she was even stronger now than she’d been as a thegn, and she’d always been best at close range fighting, especially hand to hand, with no pesky blades to worry about. She hoped if Halvor was armed, he’d be too drunk to reach for any weapons before she was able to render him unconscious.

She spotted him almost immediately, and walked up behind him as quietly as she could, honestly a bit surprised when he never even turned around. While she still had the element of surprise, Freyja grabbed the back of his head and smashed his face into the support beam he’d been about to rest his weight on. She couldn’t help the smirk that came across her face when she heard the satisfying crunch that told her she’d broken his nose. His hand had been out to touch the post as he passed it, she assumed, but she grabbed his wrist and twisted it behind his back quickly, painfully, so he wouldn’t be able to move much without causing himself further pain.

If I ever see any more bruises on Ylva, I’ll be back, with some friends, and we’ll make sure you match her,” she hissed at him, before smashing his face into the post once more. He fell to the floor with a thud and Freyja backed out quickly, to make sure he couldn’t catch her from behind the way she’d caught him.

Back outside, she approached Ylva again. “He should take a nice long nap, but he’ll be in a foul mood when he wakes up. I broke his nose. I wouldn’t be here if I were you," she warned, though was fairly certain Ylva was used to the old man in a roaring rage. "I told him to leave you alone, or I'd be back.” She was glad the young woman couldn’t see the grin she was wearing. She didn’t really enjoy hurting people unless they deserved it, but that man most definitely deserved it.

PostSubject: Re: You ain't never had a friend like me [Ylva] You ain't never had a friend like me [Ylva] EmptySat Dec 02, 2017 3:00 am

To say that Ylva was shocked by the next turn of events would be an understatement. For as soon as she told Freyja that yes in fact she did want her to beat her father up she felt her body walked to a safe place before she was left by herself once more. In all her life no one had actually done anything like this for her. She knew people knew that he did hurt her, and that he was mean, and cruel, but this was the first time anyone was taking acting. It was confusing to her, why now? Why when she had set her sighting on leaving this place and never coming back was it that someone was helping her. She knew that the brothers who lived next door knew what was going on. They had to hear it most everyday, but they never helped, never really talked to her as well. So What had made Freyja want to help her this way? Was it the fact that she had sisters close to her age? Was she just so sick of it that she had enough and she finally wanted to act upon her anger? Ylva had so many questions, and maybe she would be bold enough to ask them of her, but at the same time she was happy. She was so happy he was finally getting something in return, that her father was finally getting some pain like she had been getting for years. She wished she could be the one causing the pain to him. She wished she could kill him, but she was too weak. Just as Ivar had told her she was.

Ylva was scared of what would happen next, of what she would do after he was dead. She knew she wanted to go back to Ivar. Like she promised him she would, but she had to do some things first. She had to get better at healing. Once she could make money from healing and helping other she would be less worried about things like this. Once she was of an higher rank things wouldn't matter as much. Even from her place away from her home she can hear yelling, and it makes her happy. That he is the one in pain at the moment and not her, that someone is helping her for once. Before she knew it she heard Freyja walking back over. “He should take a nice long nap, but he’ll be in a foul mood when he wakes up. I broke his nose. I wouldn’t be here if I were you," was what she said to her and Ylva just smiled brightly at her. "I told him to leave you alone, or I'd be back.”Ylva hears the women say next and her smile gets even bigger, if that were at all possible. Before she even knew it the tears were falling down her face, and she could do nothing to stop them or hide them from the other women. "Thank you" was all Ylva said at first. Before taking a deep breath. "Thank you so much Freyja" she said next before reaching forward and grabbing at the women.

Forcing a hug on her much like she had done to Ivar. Ylva felt around the other women until she was able to pull her close and hug her, tears still falling down as a few laughs fall out of her mouth too. If this really worked, and he really left her alone things could be so much better. She could practice healing all the time, and not have to hid it from him, and she could get better. She could finally make something of herself and be helpful to a village, not just the useless blind girl like she was right now.

Honestly, Ylva’s immense gratitude made her feel like shit. She could see the tears on the brunette’s cheeks, and easily allowed herself to be pulled into a hug, all the while wishing she’d done this sooner. To be fair, she’d been rather wrapped up in her own head over the last five years, since her father died, and even before that she’d been busy with her training, and had hardly noticed the little blind girl her sister’s age at all.

At the very least, it reassured her that she’d made the right decision. Halvor deserved to get the shit kicked out of him, and she rather wished she’d kicked him in the head a few times for good measure. But killing a viking would have a much harsher penalty than just breaking his nose.

I’m glad I could help. And I mean it, if he gives you any more shit, come find me. I’ll get Hakon and a couple of my sisters and we’ll come break something more important than his nose.” She meant his neck, obviously, but thought she might need to get Haskell to come along if she actually meant to kill the bastard. A leg or two wouldn’t be too bad either. Poetic, even? Make him dependent on someone else the way Ylva was on him.

If you ever need to get away or anything, you’re welcome to spend the night at my house. What’s one more teenager at this point?” she joked. After a moment, Freyja knew she was going to find Haskell and let him know what she’d done. Mostly because when Halvor woke up, she didn’t want him telling a different version of this story. “Do you need anything else? Want help getting… wherever?

PostSubject: Re: You ain't never had a friend like me [Ylva] You ain't never had a friend like me [Ylva] EmptySat Dec 02, 2017 4:25 am

Ylva smiled when she heard Freyja say “I’m glad I could help. And I mean it, if he gives you any more shit, come find me. I’ll get Hakon and a couple of my sisters and we’ll come break something more important than his nose.” to her. The idea of so many people wanting to help her was strange an different, but she liked it all the same. She would be more at ease now, and she would use this new gift from the gods wisely. She would get better at everything she could. She would become a great healer, she would learn to defend herself from as many people that would let her. Ylva would take this gift, if he really never hurt her again, and keep her promise to Ivar. She would make herself and him proud. Sot that when she got back to him she would be even greater then he ever imagined her to be. "Thank you, that means more then you will ever know." she tells the the other women before pulling back from the hug and smiling more. Even if he did hurt her again, it sounded like Freyja was serious about this, that if he really did hurt her again that he would have to pay for his crimes. Maybe the gods would keep blessing her, Ylva sure hoped so. It would be a nice change to how things had been for her over the years.

Freyja spoke again and Ylva was even more shocked.“If you ever need to get away or anything, you’re welcome to spend the night at my house. What’s one more teenager at this point?”No one had ever offered her anything like that before as well. At place to go to escape, would she really be able to do that? Would she be so rude as to really take the other women up on her offer? She wasn't sure, but it was still so very nice of her. “Do you need anything else? Want help getting… wherever?” she heard her ask next. Ylva smiled at her kindness. "Thank you again, for your kindness. I'll keep your offer in mind. I was going to go to hankon. To see if he would help me by making me a bit bigger of a kife." she said with another smile."I want a better one to learn to fight with. So I can defend myself better. Ivar told me some tips, but didn't show me.I want to learn them however." she said to the other women next. She was the first person she had spoken about Ivar too.Even if it was just saying his name."You can come with, but I know the way if you don't want to." Ylva said next. She didn't want to make Freyja feel like she had to do so.

PostSubject: Re: You ain't never had a friend like me [Ylva] You ain't never had a friend like me [Ylva] EmptySat Dec 02, 2017 4:40 am

If Freyja had realized how bad it must’ve been for Ylva, that just offering some assistance and teaching her shit stain of a father a lesson warranted this sort of reaction, Freyja would certainly have been there sooner. She had half a mind to go bang on all her neighbor’s doors and ask why in the world they hadn’t done anything already. But, she knew a lot of people preferred to simply mind their own business and hope for the best. Freyja had never been one of those people.

She grinned at the younger woman when she said she was heading to Hakon’s and was going to ask him for a bigger knife. She stopped a bit short, though, when Ylva said she wanted to learn to fight. Freyja was trying to figure out the mechanics of it in her head, as she’d obviously never trained with someone who was blind. “You really want to learn how to fight? I could teach you a few things.

To be perfectly honest, Freyja had always believed everyone should learn how to fight. At least, enough to defend themselves. If all the fighters in a village went raiding and the only people left were old, ill, or unable to defend themselves, it left the villages wide open to attack. It had always seemed like a flaw to her. If everyone who was able knew how to fight, and protect themselves, the whole village would be stronger for it.

The name that crossed Ylva’s lips next had the shipbuilder raising her eyebrows. Ivar, she’d said? As in, “Ivar Ragnarsson? You’re… friendly with him?” She’d heard of the Ragnarssons, of course. The earl was friends with them. And from what she’d heard of them, especially the youngest, people like Ylva should stay far away from them.

Yes, I’ll walk with you. You can tell me more about this Ivar, and I’ll have a chance to be mean to Hakon,” she told her. Ylva might not be aware, but teasing Hakon was one of Freyja’s favorite past times.

PostSubject: Re: You ain't never had a friend like me [Ylva] You ain't never had a friend like me [Ylva] EmptySat Dec 02, 2017 5:01 am

Ylva felt her face brighten up with excitement when Freyja said “You really want to learn how to fight? I could teach you a few things.” to her. That would be great in Ylva's mind. If she could learn tips and tricks from all kinds of fighters, then she had a real chance of knowing a lot more then most people her age would know. She would have more different view points and skills sets showing her and teaching her. She would get better then they all expected her to get, Ylva would show them all wrong for looking down at her for being a simple Blind girl. Once she was a Healer, and she could fight that is. "I would love that! I really do want to learn more things. To get better and be able to surprise anyone who tries to hurt me." Ylva says still super excited about he idea. She would make Ivar proud yet! How happy would he be when she came back knowing all kinds of skills, and how proud of herself would she be if she was really able to do it. As a blind girl, if she could fight and win. That would really be something else. Something that even the Earl would maybe be proud of. What a thought that was. Halfdan being proud of having a blind girl in his village.

Then she heard Freyja say “Ivar Ragnarsson? You’re… friendly with him?” to her. She should have know that Freyja would know his name even if she only said the first. If she knew his name then she heard the rumors of Ivar as well.“Yes, I’ll walk with you. You can tell me more about this Ivar, and I’ll have a chance to be mean to Hakon,” Freyja said next making her smile more. "Yes, we made friends while I was there for the feast." she said first with a smile. "Father had tired to get us married but Ivar's mother said no. I'm glad for our friendship. It's nice knowing someone is out there who is similar to yourself." Ylva said to her next. Smile still clearly in place and all over her face."I think I may like him a little bit more then friends however, which is bad because I don't think he would ever feel the same.." she said next. Not realizing she was over sharing a little bit."He has anger problems, and thinks I'm annoying, but I like him all the same. I hope to go back and see him someday soon.I promised I would actually..He told me some helpful tricks in fighting though. Like to slice and not stab with a knife. I would have never known that." she said after. Letting out a small giggle. Oh so happy to be able to talk to someone about this all. Even if she was kind of forcing Freyja to talk to her an listen at the moment.

"Why do you want to be mean to Hankon? He was very helpful to me once. A drunk viking man attacked me in the streets. He pushed me down and I hurt my leg, and Hankon helped wrap up my leg and take me home!" Ylva asked Freyja next. In her eyes Hankon was a great guy and wonderful friend. She really liked spending the time she had spend with him, and she was excited to order her new knife. She had found the money in the house, and hid it from her father. Ylva just hoped that it would be enough, she really wasn't sure how all that worked.

You ain't never had a friend like me [Ylva] Empty
PostSubject: Re: You ain't never had a friend like me [Ylva] You ain't never had a friend like me [Ylva] EmptyWed Dec 06, 2017 2:48 am

Freyja nodded in agreement at Ylva’s statement. She thought it was an excellent idea, for her to learn whatever she could to defend herself. Freyja was certain there would only be more people in her future who would see a blind girl as an easy target, and she was determined to make sure they came to regret such thinking.

Absolutely. I’ll have to figure out how to teach you some things, but I’m sure we can figure it out. Between the pair of us.” Now she was trying to decide when they could meet up. She had begun training with her sisters in the mornings, and had ships to build for the rest of the day. “You take walks down by the docks, right? If you came by around lunchtime we could take some time each day and work on it? Or, it doesn’t have to be every day. Whenever you’re able to get away.

Listening to Ylva’s story about her time in Kattegat, Freyja rolled her eyes, not at all surprised that Halvor had tried to arrange a marriage for his daughter outside of the village. How could anyone treat their own child like that? It was making her angry again. She heard the sixteen year old tell her how she might like Ivar as more than just friends and smiled to herself. That was pretty cute, even if Freyja couldn’t help but worry about the things she’d heard of the young man. But, the idea that Ylva would ever even meet him again seemed so unlikely, she wasn’t worried.

However, when she mentioned anger issues, Freyja started shaking her head. How could someone with a father like that even consider being attracted to someone with anger issues? “Well he sounds like an idiot if he finds you annoying, and men with anger issues should be avoided,” she paused for a moment before smirking to herself, “or hit in the head a few times.

That’s an… interesting piece of advice. Why slice and not stab?” Freyja wondered. Maybe it was because she was blind? And slicing would be easier for her? Because stabbing someone in the heart or a lung or an eye would certainly be better than slicing their arm a bit, but you’d need to be able to aim.

She laughed at Ylva’s question about Hakon. “Don’t worry, he’s a friend. And he’ll be mean right back.” As the girl beside her explained how Hakon had helped her that night, Freyja finally realized that she was the girl in the village that he’d told her about some time ago. “Oh! He told me about that, but not who had been attacked. I’m glad he was able to help a bit. Too bad he hadn’t arrived a bit earlier.

Freyja could be a bit bloodthirsty at times, and she’d wanted to stab the unknown assailant the first time Hakon had mentioned the whole situation to her, but now, knowing it was Ylva who’d been hurt, she felt herself getting angry again. There were far too many pieces of shit in their village, she determined. And if she had to point a finger, she was pointing it directly at their earl. Lead by example, she’d been taught. And look what was happening in their village?

You ain't never had a friend like me [Ylva] Empty
PostSubject: Re: You ain't never had a friend like me [Ylva] You ain't never had a friend like me [Ylva] EmptyWed Dec 06, 2017 8:27 pm

Ylva had a smile that just kept growing around Freyja, first she beat up her father for her. Something Ylva wished someone would have done for her a long time ago,and then she offered to train her, or show her some moves at the very least. “Absolutely. I’ll have to figure out how to teach you some things, but I’m sure we can figure it out. Between the pair of us.” was what Freyja said to her in return. Ylva nodded her head to her, yes between the two of them she was sure that they would find a way for her to be able to learn more skills. Then she would be able to protect herself from those who would want to do her harm. Sadly it seemed that there were a lot of people out there in the world that were like that. Ylva wished she knew why, what she had done to the gods to make it that so many people wanted to hurt her. “You take walks down by the docks, right? If you came by around lunchtime we could take some time each day and work on it? Or, it doesn’t have to be every day. Whenever you’re able to get away.” Freyja said to her next and Ylva nodded her head again. "Something like that could work great, yes. Maybe two times a week? I'm trying to train myself to be a healer. So that takes a lot more of my time now!" she tells her with a smile. So very grateful she actually seems like she wants to help her learn how to fight and wasn't just saying it to be nice.

After Ylva finished telling Freyja all about her time away and meeting Ivar she bit her lip at Freyja's words. “Well he sounds like an idiot if he finds you annoying, and men with anger issues should be avoided,” she told her first before adding “or hit in the head a few times.” Ylva bit her lip a little bit harder before deciding to speak on the matter. "I was just talking a lot with him, I do that when Im excited...but its complicated..I'm sure you know of his legs...we can relate to one another..and yes normally I would avoid people who get mad..but he's just different. He has a right to be mad.." Ylva says as she thinks about Ivar. "Imagine being a prince and everyone looks down on you because of the way you were born...or like me...I get treated differently because of something I can't control. My father hates me because I am blind, so I understand his anger..." she says to her next before letting out a breath of air. She felt more bold after meeting Ivar, these things she would have never said out loud before was a big clue of that. In a way it made her miss him even more then she was already missing him. The grumpy, and sarcastic friend that she had to leave behind.

When she told her the advice that Ivar gave her she heard her say “That’s an… interesting piece of advice. Why slice and not stab?” in question. "I'm not sure completely, he didn't say, I'm guessing its because I cant see my target.. and I would cover more area in a slicing motion then a stabbing." Ylva said back to her with a shrug. She honestly had no idea about anything when it came to fighting or skills with fighting. She knew how to get around the village, how to lie about her bruises, and now a lot about healing. However she also knew a lot of the villages secrets, seeing as most people ignore her and act as if she was also deaf too. Then the subject changed to Hankon, and the confusing reason why Freyja wanted to be mean to someone so kind and nice. “Don’t worry, he’s a friend. And he’ll be mean right back.” she heard her say back. Then she noticed the energy shift a little bit. “Oh! He told me about that, but not who had been attacked. I’m glad he was able to help a bit. Too bad he hadn’t arrived a bit earlier.” Freyja said next, and Ylva could tell she was upset, by her voice and her energy. Was she upset for her, or that Hankon never told her who? Ylva wasn't sure. It would be nice if it was for her, but most people acted like they didn't care if she was hurt or not. If they did they would have made her father leave her alone before. Ylva had viking that lived close to her even, so if the village cared then they would have done something.

However Freyja had to care a little bit, or she wouldn't have beaten her father the ways he had done for her."I wish that had been the case as well, but he had been very helpful afterwards. So that was good enough for me. I know that men don't like me for that I can't see, but it was still rather shocking that the man was so upset when he realized it. Most people just ignore me...granted not all..I have some friends...like you and a few of your sisters too.." she said to her next as they kept walking. They were getting very close to Hankon's, just a few more minutes of walking and they would be there.

Freyja nodded at Ylva before remembering that wasn’t at all helpful. “Excellent,” she replied instead, when the younger woman said twice a week would work for her. “You’re… training yourself to be a healer? That’s impressive. How, exactly?” Before she knew it, Ylva would be a force to be reckoned with. Freyja was very curious.

She listened quietly as Ylva explained about Ivar and while she could admit, the prince clearly hadn’t had the easiest of lives, he was still a prince, and therefore would not be getting very much sympathy from Freyja. While being a cripple couldn’t be easy, he was the son of a king. A very famous king. It wasn’t as if he was the son of a fisherman, and had to worry about feeding and protecting himself. But, she was smart enough to keep those opinions to herself after hearing how Ylva believed the two of them to be similar. “Fair enough,” she answered instead, letting the matter drop.

That makes sense,” she added when Ylva commented on the slicing vs stabbing matter. “It’s probably easier to lose your grip on the knife if you’re stabbing instead of slicing, too.” She could admit that it was solid advice, now that she’d had a chance to think about it.

Well, you’re okay now,” she told the brunette after she talked about how men didn’t like her because she was blind. “People will always underestimate you, but we’ll make sure that’s their mistake.” They arrived at Hakon’s shop shortly after, and Freyja peeked inside to make sure he was actually there before leaving Ylva alone. She shot him a grin as she made her way inside. “I don’t know why, but Ylva wanted to come see you. I tried to talk her out of it, but she’s stubborn. I’ve got to go find Haskell,” she added, nodding at Hakon, squeezing Ylva’s hand gently, and heading back outside. Now, she had to go take responsibility for what she’d done.

Ylva smiled once more at Freyja as she heard her ask her “You’re… training yourself to be a healer? That’s impressive. How, exactly?” she could tell that the other women was curious about how. it was normal for her to be curious about it. Ylva was blind and it wasn't like she had anyone helping her along the way. She was teaching herself everything. "It's a little hard to explain, but I just get ideas when I find certain plants. Grinding them up and making pastes, or things to drink...I test them on myself..seeing as I got hurt a lot because of father." she told the other women awkwardly. She didn't want to make things even more weird or make Freyja feel bad about the fact that she was hurt enough to be her was her own test subject. However there was no point in lying to the other women as well. So she just hoped the subject would be dropped and that what Freyja did would keep her father from hurting her ever again.

They spoke about Ivar and why she understood his anger, and all Freyja said was “Fair enough,” before the conversation turned to Ivar's tips for her. “That makes sense,” Freyja said and Ylva just nodded her head at her. “It’s probably easier to lose your grip on the knife if you’re stabbing instead of slicing, too.” Freyja said to her next, and Ylva just nodded again. "Yes, that makes sense too." she said to her with a smile. She liked talking to someone about Ivar to, it was nice. Her father just said nothing but nasty things about Ivar to her, and Ivar's family. He was still mad that they had turned him down so many times when he had offered her to them. Apparently she had been even offered to his other brother Sigurd, and was turned down for that as well. Something she was glad about.

Conversation turned to Hankon and the night he had helped her and her shock when the man had acted the way he had acted toward her. “Well, you’re okay now,” had been Freyja's first reply before she said “People will always underestimate you, but we’ll make sure that’s their mistake.” next. Ylva bit her lip but nodded at the other women all the same. It was true, and Ivar had said something similar to her. She really was going to make people regret that they ever underestimated her the way they had done her whole life. They just walked into Hankon's shop, and it was too late to keep the conversation going. Maybe she would talk wit Freyja when she learn some tips and tricks with her by the docks. She was distracted by the smells and how they reminded her of a person she missed. “I don’t know why, but Ylva wanted to come see you. I tried to talk her out of it, but she’s stubborn. I’ve got to go find Haskell,” Freyja said, and just before she left Ylva made sure to say "Bye, thank you" to her before she left. Now it was time to talk to Hankon.
