rankjeweller backstorywhen she became an orphan at thirteen years old, iliana had to rely on the skills she had to protect herself and survive. her father had been a blacksmith and attempted to teach her his craft, so she knew the basics of smithing, but knew she didn't have the skill to become a blacksmith or even a blacksmith's apprentice. when she was younger and her father wanted her to practice smithing, he'd often let her create a piece of jewelry for her or her mother, and she became quite good under his instruction, so she used that to her advantage, became the apprentice of the local jeweller, who was an eldery woman, and was eventually able to sell her things in the jeweller's shop in uddevalla.

But it's impossible not to like Redra. svipday knútrsson❄Svipday is a friend of Iliana's from Uddevalla. He used to sell iron to her father, and then sold it to her before she moved to Kattegat. garth odinsson❄❄Garth is one of the blacksmiths in Kattegat and Iliana met him shortly after she arrived there. She felt they had a bit in common upon discovering he too had left his village to go there to make a name for himself. After spending quite a bit of time together, Iliana discovered she had feelings for him.

Her love of fighting is probably more a result of the adrenaline rush she gets when in combat, rather than any love of killing, but she trained as hard as she could, wanting to prove herself just as capable as anyone, and make her father proud.

Things had been hard for her until she met Tyr Svensson. He was a viking who she fell in love with when her son, Garth was two years old. They were married and had Yrsa a couple years later. Tyr was not overly fond of his wife's son, but was in love with Inkeri and ensured the child was well cared for. After Yrsa was born, he was determined to keep his thoughts on his step-son to himself, because his daughter's affection for her brother was clear from the very beginning.

Yrsa's known him for years but you couldn't say they're close. gunnvor skaeringsdóttir❄❄Gunnvor is the Countess of Skagerrak and Yrsa is quite in awe of her. freyr rigasson❄❄Freyr is the earl's son, and shares Yrsa's soft spot for animals. She's quite fond of him. inkeri nadirsdóttir ❄Inkeri and Yrsa have been friends for many years, and she's always appreciated the carpenter's sense of humor, and loyalty. vali sveinsson❄❄Vali is the Thane in Skagerrak, and as such, Yrsa has quite a lot of respect for him. Also, she enjoys training and fighting with him, and would consider him a friend. halstein toresson❄❄❄ Halstein is the Hersir in Skagerrak and Yrsa considers him a friend. Also, they occasionally hook up. eldora eiriksdóttir ❄Eldora is a healer, and Yrsa were friendly before the younger woman moved to Kattegat, but Yrsa tries to keep in touch whenever she goes there to visit her brother.

While she does wish she could have continued with her training, she's very skilled at what she does, and is quite proud of what she's accomplished.

Kara was a dressmaker's apprentice, and Stafn was a shipbuilder's apprentice. After their daughter was born, Stafn traveled around from village to village to perfect his skills, so he was rarely home the first few years of Freyja's life. Eventually he became a master shipbuilder in his own right and returned home to Skagen to his wife and daughter, and within a few years, more daughters followed.
They were a happy, though likely quite loud family for many years. Freyja became her father's reluctant apprentice, while also training to become a shield maiden. Rúna, like Freyja, was drawn to a life of fighting and worked hard to become a thegn, while Visna has always been more drawn to sewing, and fabric, and design, following in their mother's footsteps.
Stafn was killed five years ago, and Freyja, having learned his craft from him, stepped into her father's role of shipbuilder in order to ensure her family continued to be well provided for. She's currently 28 years old, and while disappointed she stopped training to fight, she's excelled at shipbuilding and is quite proud of her work. Rúna is 18 and currently a thegn, in training to become a shield maiden. Visna is 16, and works with their mother in her shop as her apprentice. Tóra is the youngest, at 15 and she's shy and quiet, and still figuring out what she wants to do when she's older.
